Moving to D.C. Where to move and run?

It appears that I will be moving to the Washington D.C. area in the next few weeks. I am an avid runner and want to continue my training. First I have to decide where to move. I would be working in Rockville, MD. I am not opposed to living there but I would have to buy a car. D.C. seems appealling since I am single. I would appreaciate any advice on where to move, where to run, and the names of some good running clubs. Thanks.

Paul, if you want to live in DC w/o a car and you'll work in Rockville, I think it would be best to live within walking distance to one of the Red Line stations on the way to Rockville (Tenleytown, Cleveland Park, Friendship Heights, Dupont Circle, Woodley Park-Adams Morgan, Van Ness, etc.) See http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/systemmap.cfm[/URL" target="_blank"> for a complete map. Also, how close is your workplace to the Rockville Metro, or does it have a shuttle? The Rockville Metro station is a more suburban, car-oriented station, I think, although there will be plenty of bus lines.

Bethesda, Md., might also be a fun area for you to live. There's lots of restaurants and fun spots in that area.

I like the DC Road Runners club. This is an excellent area for running and racing, overall. Tons of great and interesting areas to run and lots of runners here.

I agree with SGH - Bethesda is a nice place - especially for singles. However, it is quite costly to live there. Rockville (and most of Montgomery County) is pretty dull and boring for the singles crowd if you are someone who likes to go to clubs and such. However, they have a pretty good running club there - Montgomery County Road Runners.
