Re: Atlanta Area Runners
I figured that 770 was GRR...but I didn't know if any of you guys would remember from back then.

How about that game this past saturday 770? :-P

I'll check out the other forums...but I'm not sure if I'm running either of the ING races yet...because I'm planning on running Boston and really going after a fast time there...so we'll see.

Hey, Reggie Ball has been the best quarterback UGA has had the past 4 years. Too bad you won't have him around next year.

Now, back to our regular neighborhood running.

I agree 100%.....we're about to put a lot of money into our next idea...but we're really pushing hard to get Reggie in the Heisman voting! :-)

After the game..it was almost like a campaign for Reggie...4 MORE YEARS!!

ha. But that Choice kid...he's good! What year is he?

Hey, is anyone planning to run the Brasstown Baldbuster this month? I'm thinking it might be a good PR race. I hear there's only one hill...

Haha ... that's a good one. I think I'll pass for now but definitely something to add to the "to do" list. I think I need to hit Kennesaw and Stone Mountain a little more often and start getting aggressive against these "hills."

hi! I was wondering if you're ever going out for a slower run (I assume-- saw some of your training run times) at Kennesaw if I could join you?
I want to start running some trails, and would love to do so with company.
(I do better with others than myself... I go so slow doing what I do now, always training by myself.)

Also, I normally run the 7.5 mile loop at Stone Mountain... it is definately good for some hills.
Park in the Railroad Depot ( where crossroads is) -- turn left out of the entrance (actually you can run either direction... I think if you turn right, the run is slightly longer) Run until you get to the second water fountain and take the road across from it. Run until that road ends (around the 78 exit) and take a right-- will lead you back to the depot parking lot.
Very scenic-- and I find that this direction seems hillier (to me anyway) than the other direction for this route.

I'm about 75% sure I'll be there...but I really won't know until a little closer to the day.

Thinking about Brasstown Bald so may be there. If anyone has a link to the web site, let me know. I know from the cycling folks that its an average 12% grade with 18% in some sections. Ouch!

Hi! I don't know about the Bald run, but I'm very seriously looking at Twisted Ankle. That falls right when my schedule calls for a half marathon so it's perfect. Any thoughts on this one?

GH&H - I'm always up for running partners and have been slowing down my longer runs because I've been training a lot of them too fast anyway. Here's my schedule up to the ING, and I'm always fine to give or take a mile:

Let me know if anything looks like it fits, I can hit Kennesaw pretty much any day of the week.

Of course anyone else in the area having runs, I haven't done my due diligence of checking out the various gatherings as I know there's a lot of you running on the weekends so I'll be sure to check that out and join in when/where I can as well.

Training for ING in March, Twisted Ankle in main, would like to hit a 50K in August and then tackle the JFK 50 November 2007.

Here's the profile from the TA half last year. Note the scale. Most of those rolling hills along the top and at the start are larger than those in the Alpharetta HM and the Atlanta HM routes. My footpod came in at 13.9 mi but it really was right about 13.1. For mistakes, I went out too fast to start and cramped up on the big climb, never loosening up. It really was fun though.

Kennesaw is great training ground for this. I'll be there quite a bit between now and May.

Sunday?

I'm usually free on the weekends (that's when you normally go right); I get my schedule for Sunday through Saturday on Fridays. My email is heather.angeline at gmail if you want to email me there to figure it out.

TA is an awesome race. The half is the perfect distance. Mile 4 is the hardest - I believe the RD figured 34% grade for .25, but after that it's nice rolling hills, nothing too steep or technical, then a downhill finish, except for some baby hills near the end.

The Runner's World group is having the LoveFest again in 2007, but all are welcome!!! We've got runner's from all over coming in for the race - several from upstate NY, and even one runner from Canada!!!

Heat and humidity are also a big factor at TA.
