Does anyone run in SW South Dakota??

Hi everyone,

I am vacationing in South Dakota next month and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on where to run. We are going to the Black Hills area. I need to get some long training runs of 12 - 14 miles in. I was looking forward to running on the Mickelson Trail but, a friend told me I should beware of the mountain lions there. I have not heard or read anything about this. I didn't think they were in this area. I thought I just had to watch out for buffalo. I'm also a flatlander and I know that it is going to take me a couple of days to adjust to the altitude. I can hardly wait for the challenge. Can someone please give me some help on this matter!!! I don't want to miss out on my runs. This is my time for myself everyday. Thanks everybody!!!!!

Hi rojewski. Welcome to Coolrunning.

I'm moving your post to the forum 'The Neighborhood' where you will have a better chance in contacting someone about your questions. I'm sure you won't mind, as your questions are not of a medical nature.

A trail I run on is posted to beware of cougars. As my neighbor said, "Don't act like a deer and you're be okay". Good luck
