Re: Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC Predictions
Man, I wish I could be there...although I guess I'll see a lot more of the race on the live feed.

I think this race is gonna be down to the wire. The wind is definitely going to help some runners contend.

Not too mention that people aren't going to want to be in the front taking the brunt of the wind, which means the pace could slow, which of course bunches everyone up.

Another strategy could be for a group to break away and trade off fronting the wind. Better to work with 5 guys until the last few miles than try to fight off 10 more in a tight pack.

Re: Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC Predictions
Somehow I don't think any of the 8 WI starters will be in the mix. We also had 4 nonstarters 2 of which put up some good 5k times this year (13:04 & 13:12)

Best time for a WI runner 2:17:46 Michael Reneau

I think the 3rd place guy will be someone no one has mentioned yet - Having a break through race.

Re: Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC Predictions
Not sure who the weather favors. Probably a relatively unknown who can sneak in there if no one wants to push the pace. Hall is good on hills, soft dirt, etc, so I'm figuring he has the strength to do well in the wind. Of course the same could be said about most of the other major contenders, except maybe KK who never did cross country that I'm aware of. He is the biggest wildcard - he could obviously win if he has a good day, or he could be completely out of the running. I'm picking one of several people named Josh to surprise.

1. Hall
2. Abdi
3. Keflezighi
4. KK
5. Ritz
6. Culpepper
7. Sell
8. Cox
9. Rohatinsky
10. Hartmann

Alex,

It is free - but it's not working for me either!

I didn't think this would have more traffic than the Victoria's Secret Lingerie Show, so I was hoping for no technical difficulties... sigh

Thanks for the text link, mcsolar99.

I got up early specifically to watch Kyle O'Brien, a hometown boy of Danville, IL (where I'm at) - and he even led for a while and I'm sitting here not able to see ****!

....grrrrrrrr....

At least I have the text updates. sigh

ha, negative progress for me: the text updates don't work now.

think i'll go outside and change the wheels on my wagon, get some water from my well and get the morning fire going.

ahh, isn't it great to live in a high tech world? how many mediazone employees flunked high school?

Re: Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC Predictions
which page did you use to "activate the software"??? i've been looking... granted, only for 60 minutes, but i've been looking to activate. maybe i should point my laptop towards mecca to activate?

edited: after 40+ unsuccessful attempts, i connected and saw the last 3 miles. i guess lots of people had tuned out since the race was decided. what an amazing run for hall, proves that his london race was no fluke.

he's got the talent and training and attitude to get a medal, plus his interviews show that he's a class act.

Re: Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC Predictions
It's pretty sad when the major networks don't cover a major Olympic Trial event.

BTW, now you know why the stream was FREE

Now everyone who can't view the inferior stream have turned to running times and now that server has been brought to it's knees.

Geez, what is a runner to do???

Re: Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC Predictions
Ok, try again guys. Both me and my wife got in recently, so maybe they are adjusting the servers at mediazone.

Status update: Ritz, Hall, Meb and Abdi. Brown is right there as well. Sell is back 20 seconds or so, and KK is back a bit from Sell.

This is 1:08 in.
