Re: Raleigh, NC runners!!!!
JDF - Thanks for the congratulations. Unofficially this was a PR by about 26 seconds. I usually wind up about 2-3 seconds slower than the official chip time, so I'm hoping that holds true this time as well. Another milestone passed (under 29:00 now). I'd like to get down to the 25:00 range eventually (maybe next fall's Grand Prix) where I figure I might be competitive from time to time in my age group.
Also, thanks for clearing up what that "river" was we had to cross. I remember coming up to that corner going "what the ...? Why are they washing the road right now?" (It's amazing what your mind comes up with when it's delirious.) I also hit that first mile split in 8:30 and was thinking "oh, cxxp, that's way too fast!". On the other hand, maybe I needed it to make up for the later hills.
How much longer do you intend to keep racing with the stroller? It's probably great for building your strength, but I'm guessing it's probably gaining a pound or two a week.
SWatkins - Enjoyed meeting you as well. I think it makes these message boards more interesting to have faces to associate with the names - and it makes the running more interesting. Good luck at OBX. All I need is to get another 7 seconds per mile off my pace, then hold it for 4x as long a distance, and maybe I'll be looking at my next marathon <g>.
