Lateral foot pain

I ran the Disney marathon almost two weeks ago and while I finished with the usual aches and pains that went away after a couple of days, I still have a nagging pain in my foot. The bottom of my feet were hurting during the race and I put that down to foot-strike pain but that doesn't feel anything like what I am experiencing now. When walking/running, my foot hurts on the lateral (outside) side of my right foot about a third of the way towards my toes heading away from the heel (just posterior to the bony bit that sticks out). When palpating though, the pain is on the side of my foot and I have a bit of swelling and tenderness that has been there ever since the marathon. Any ideas as to what it might be?

Re: Lateral foot pain
Please go see a specialist (podiatrist) - the longer you wait, the longer it can take to heal. You may also need some physical therapy, but see specialist first.

If there is swelling - do some icing on it in the meantime (make sure you have a protective layer in between the ice and your skin - such as a dry paper towel or a wet towel).

Good luck
