Re: Montreal Runners Forum
Hi

DF7: No I've never done the race in laval!! (well my running 'carrière' only started last June) but my parents are from laval and I know the area well...so it should be fun. Although I wonder WHERE are we going to run. Laval is one ugly city...there is SOME great area...but mostly it IS a ugly city hehe. I guess we will do meet at the St-Laurent race! let's hope it WON'T be windy and cold.

grommit: hehe..of me skiing ? or of me running on quiet country streets?

Anyone knows if the '10 kilomètres de Lorraine' still exist? My dad did it when I was 10 or so. I would LOVE to do it. I've spend 20 years of my life in this city and I have not been there since. I would love to run around my hometown in a race. but I can't seem to find any info...it used to be in may.

Have a nice evening everyone,

Véronique

I read what you said and couldn't help but smile.

I used to live there, you're right, there aren't too many scenic places where you can run. There are a few municipal parks and some paths/roads that might be good but aren't as easily accessible as Laval's centre.
Of course if they could do it in Laval-sur-le-Lac - with all the multi-million dollar properties and quiet streets - that would be fun. .

There's always a race in Ste-Thérèse, don't know what it's like though, never been to it (it may be their first time).
Likely more scenic, less drab than running in the heart of Chomedey near the Town Hall, however!

Anyway, i was just dropping by, since i used to live in the area. This thread is quite active indeed! More active than the Ontario runner's thread!

Hello and good running to all of you!

Re: Montreal Runners Forum
Grommit, MLC, Mars,

Great run with you guys. I'm glad you guys didn't hold back. You guys were flying! TB just kept on plodding TB style. I'm glad that everyone had fun.

MLC, Grommit, will you be able to attend the LaSalle 10km next week? On myside, I'm trying to get the three runners that I know of that are interested in running RTB to come out for the event. If all works out, I would like next weekend to also serve as a, "meet and greet" for everyone as they ponder whether to sign up or not. I hope that this will result in our team coalescing into something material and substantial. A nucleus if you will that will allow us to commence planning for the logistical challenges that lie ahead. I'll provide updates as the week progresses. I have one confirmed to run the 10km with me next week. We'll see about the other two.

Mars, Thanks for hanging back and coming back to fetch me, "Sheppard style".

Re: Montreal Runners Forum
and a wonderful romp in the slush was had by all..... and crowd support, KJ, Mr KJ & kj jr. riding a park bench as we trudged to the top.

Vero: both !!...... also you could consider the NCM 1/2 Ottawa in 11 weeks.... I think there's more than a couple of us going down so it shouldn't be too hard to hitch a lift....

Montreal-RTB Team as of March 13th:

TurtleBoy Captain
Grommit
Chops
Mars

Still plenty of spaces..... http://www.rtbrelay.com/index.shtml[/URL" target="_blank">

Coureur: If this RTB thing gets off the ground I'll probably take a rain check on "Les Deux Rives"...... makes more sense I guess.

Take care

Grommit

Re: Montreal Runners Forum
Sounds like the Montreal RTB team is gathering steam, good for you guys ! Have you given a team name a thought ? Some of the participants last year had some great ones ? some quite funny.

Went up le Mount this am as well, started at 9, found the ?footing? difficult, slowed me down some, not that I break any speed records or anything, but didn`t stop. Did the 11.5K, back to the angel and down Drummond for my appt. I was disappointed with the amount of time it took me, I`m glad I was alone, it would have been embarrassing to have had a handful of witnesses..and to add to my distress my legs are hurting tonight which is very rare for me unless its an outright injury.

Hey KJ, how are you and Mr KJ doing ? Did junior enjoy herself ? I found there was plenty happenin? ? lots of kids.

Have a good week everyone,

Df

Re: Montreal Runners Forum
After some of the conditions we've had this weekend, I think our RTB relay team should be the "Slush Runners"...

Great run this morning. TB, Chops, Grommit, TB's friend Tom the Triathlete, and yours truly were all at the starting line. With such a strong group, we headed off toward Parc Lafontaine for 2 loops around the Parc, and back to the statue (8 K). Then, we made our way to the Cross. Grommit and TB went for 2 loops (+13.5 K), Tom and I did one loop (+11.5 K). Chops, under the usual Sunday time constraints, left after a certain distance back on Mt-Royal. Grommit and TB got 21.5 K out of this run, and Tom and I roughly 20 K with some doubling back at different parts of the run.

Grommit... since you normally run over to Parc Ave and run back home, what did you get total for the day? 32 K? 34 K?

As Grommit mentioned, it was great to see the KJ household...

Beautiful day... lots of slush, snow, and puddles on the roads. Soft snow on the mountain... man... like running in sand. Somekind of workout... Once I got home, my lower legs were actually a little sore from the stability work.

Anyways... Many thanks to today's runners. Hope to see even more new people in the future. And good luck to all the Lasalle 10 K runners next week.

Take care, and train safe.

Hey Sally... I'm looking forward to it. Whenever you are ready, "The Sheperd" will be there... And I know everyone else will appreciate your dynamic presence.

Take care.

Mars: I confess I drove there & back.... still not quite fully back from Miami.... but I did go up and down about a third of the hill with Chops as we waited for you guys to get back from the park.... Total about+/- 26kms.
Great workout for the ankles/calves... I can feel it too

Re: Montreal Runners Forum
Wow, sounds like you all had a great long run... More than 20k, my compliments!

My daughter and I arrived late at the mountain, 11:30. I was dissapointed to have missed you. We ran up the mountain for about 2-3k, slowly. I think Naomi had a good time. She had 3 half hour sessions this week + 1 today! (Mr. Knee is having a little break from running... he has a weak knee).

It was a nice surprise to see you Grommit and Mountmars (and I think I saw you TB!).Thanks for stopping for a hand-shake Grommit

Ho! and let me mention that I had the chance to finally meet and run with Coureur and, just between you and I: he is just swell! We are planning on doing the run from work to home often because we live and work close by. Cool!

Ok, so I think I am now 100% back! I'm going to up my mileage this week. If all goes well, I should be back to my regular 60k and going to LaSalle this weekend.

Df, Sally, Véro, JB, Chops and Omni: I dont have time to write more right now but I just wanted to say hi and hope to see you soon!

Please tell me this ain't true. Quebec may 8? I have a FINAL on that day. I somehow wrote in my agenda that it was on the 28-29th weekend. Argh.

I ran 10km this morning. on tired legs. quite heavy. Needless to say, it was one very slow aerobic run. I got to 'sleep in' until 6hAM..so I was running in sunshine between 6h30 and 7h30. It was great.

FunRun: hehe laval sur le lac is nice. like I said there is SO nice area in Laval. And I'm running the race in Ste-Therese ! I'm from this North shore area.

grommit: Please tell me on what weekend does it fall on? I don't want to get too excited for nothing !

DF7: Bad runs happen. I'm still crossing my fingers wishing you are not injured.

Well it looks like the Sunday run went very well ! The weather was beautiful.

Have a nice day,
Véronique

Hi Kneejerk.

Yep, that was me you saw plodding along up the hill. I didn't realise that was you. With Grommit being such a social butterfly who could I have known :P Looking forward LaSalle next weekend so I can formally introduce myself.

Cheers,

TB
