Hi guys,
Nice to see some AZ runners on-line.
Welcome aboard !
There are other COOLRunners from the Tucson area;
they come and go as time and interest permits.
Hoping the Rock and Roll marathon will be different !
Next week is the last hard week for me, then taper until 9 Jan.
Anyone have comments on the course ?
I was a pacer for two miles last year.
From the elevation chart:
it doesn't look too tough, the last nine miles is a
gradual downhill which should help your time.
This may be incorret becuse they haven't posted a detailed finish area map, but as you're heading west on University right about at the Mile 25 circle there's a railroad crossing. As you have learned by now, beginners tend to hesitate here and some slip and fall.
Don't be close behind another as you cross railroad tracks.
My current concern is logistical:
I heard the traffic at the start last year was crazy,
so I have a hotel room 1 mi from start.
But there aren't any shuttles from finish to back to the start !!!
Will it be tough to get a taxi from the finish area ?
Ideas ?
MC
I can't believe R&R won't have return busses.
This isn't
Tucson you know !
!http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0!I'm sure they had return busses last year.
I've given other COOLRunners rides back to the start or to
their hotels so if I'm free - I won't volunteer to be a pacer -
I'll give you and your hotel buds a ride.
I'm using a '92 Chev, S-10 Blazer II.
As race day closes I'll update you.
