Aruba!

I'm sorry I didnt see this earlier! I was feeling really good around mile 12 and it wouldve been fun to run in with someone! I also couldve used you for a little motivation and a pep talk around mile 8 through 9.5. I wasnt feeling that super then! I had a blast and will be back next year for more~

Will you run next year?

Re: Arizona
Hey again~

I am not in the picture above... That is the regular full marathon and I ran the half.

I did not meet any cool runners at this race and I havent run the Usery Park trails yet because I dont feel comfortable running out there all alone. I'll bet you are going to suggest that we run them together!? My husband would flip out!
I am sure you arent an ax murderer or anything but you cant be too careful!

It wouldve been fun to meet you at the race and I sure couldve used a friendly face for a while there... I am thinking of running in the runners den 5k/10k in P.V. coming up in Feb. I ran the 5k last year and would like to see if I could beat my time.

Bye again!~ Stub

Re: Arizona
crashed and burned after mile 18.

was on pace for my "conservative" 2:56 at half-way.
blew up and jogged in with 3:14:32. more than 150
people passed me after mile 18; finished 208th.

either i didn't hydrate properly (figure i should know better)
or i lost a lot of conditioning during my recent bout with
the flu. oh well, back to short races until the fall.

fun race though; i had a blast with the bands and the
crowds for the first 18 miles!

Re: Arizona
Elite put on a great race. The bands and crowd support were great.
I finished in 4 hours and 28 minutes..my slowest marathon of 3 but oh well.....I had set 3 goals:
ultimate: 3:55
trained for: 4:15
could live with: 4:30
I should of brought my Gatorade that I trained with because the Powerbar Fuel drink gave me stomach cramps..it was mixed way too strong for my sensitive tummy.
Anyways, I'm going to hit the trails for some different kind of racing.
I'm planning on the Pemberton Trail Race Feb. 5th. The entire race is 31 miles but I'm just going to run the first loop of 15.5.
Maybe I'll see some CR's out there.
Happy Trails....Lisamarie

Re: Arizona
I ran on the trails at Usery Park on Sunday (1-16) for the first time. I parked at the Wind Cave Trailhead parking lot, but ended up running the Pass Mountain Trail loop clockwise plus some additional loops on the Cat Peaks Trail.

The Pass Mountain Trail was fairly rigorous with a huge downhill (approximately 1 1/2 miles long) about 2/3 through the loop. I don't think I'd like to climb this if I was running the other way. The footing was very good and smooth for about 1 mile in each direction from the trailhead. But it got very rocky the farther out I got. I strongly recommend sturdy trail running shoes for this loop.

The back side of the mountain is definately a lot more beautiful than the front (Apache Junction) side. And I only saw about 20 hikers during the entire run.
