Re: OREGON RUNNERS
Hey, thanks!

I think the HTC is going to be great and I'm glad you decided to do it.

The 27th of August will be my first wedding anniversary and we got married on the beach, so it'll be great to run toward that.

I can't wait to start planning and getting more excited as it gets closer.

So, Oregonians, who else is gonna be there and who has done it before?

Re: OREGON RUNNERS
I'll go if anyone needs a female team member. I did HTC in the mid 1980's and it was a hoot!

Welcome, Sporadic!

Re: OREGON RUNNERS
I did HTC last year for the first time. Just coming off an ultra the month before made the actual runs not a big deal to finish...I actually got hours of rest between each 5-6 mile chunk! The whole event was a great time. You'll become good friends with your van-mates.

I live right on leg #33 and run legs 32&33 all the time as my usual running routes. It was fun to do some of it with a crowd for a change. I'll wave as you run by!

Kate

Re: OREGON RUNNERS
Hood to Coast is a blast! I run on an out of state team from Florida. I joined them three years ago when I responded to a plea from the team looking for one more female runner. We won our division last year (mixed submasters) and hope to defend our title this year.

On another note, anyone doing the Cascade Half Marathon in January? I've never done it and I know the weather is dicey at that time of year, but I hear it's a flat course. I'm doing the Napa Valley Marathon in March so this is really the only tune up race in Oregon prior to the marathon.

Stay warm and dry this week!

Sarah

I don't ever know of any races going on in Oregon that I could manage. Is there a website that shows you where/when races are?

Here's one that's fairly good. It is continuously updated.

Sorry, been meaning to write that race report...

It's a pretty hard core group of runners that shows up in Hood River for a 12k in mid-December. About 33 runners total, not counting the THREE people (all newbies) that ran the 5k. The Mosier Twin Tunnels route is pretty tough, no flat spots anywhere. Uphill, then downhill, then turn around and run uphill for all of Mile 4, then down to the finish. I came in 14th at 58:37. I was pretty happy with my time given all the hills and the occasional sections of solid ice. The winner turned in an impressive 44:44.

Apparently they run that race 4 times per year. I might look into the May one, don't know.

Re: OREGON RUNNERS
I'm looking into joining some of the trail runs this year, starting with the Hagg Lake 25K (I think in February). The course description of Hagg Lake makes it sound like it's from Spike TV's Most Extreme Elimination show. Mud that will suck your shoes off -- Yeah!

Mbannon, we wished you a Happy Bday over on the Just Running forum but it looks like you missed it. Good work on the Mosier Tunnel run!

Oh man, my first callout and I totally missed it! Sorry 'bout that. Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was a fun day and a good (but tough) run.

Re: OREGON RUNNERS
Katemd, well, if I can recover from the flu, I'll be at Hagg. The first 4 trail runs look great; I would be doing the shorter distances for sissies. Can't compete with Meghan Arbogast in those longer runs!

I looked at the results for the Olympia Christmas Classic marathon and it looks like you were there; we must have passed like ships in the night. Renee

Re: OREGON RUNNERS
Next up for me is the Truffle Shuffle on February 12th. It is one of the bigger races of the year, so I'm assuming there are others doing it. Who is planning on this one?

That's a four mile race, correct? It seems like an odd distance. It looked well attended in years past with fast runners. By the way, thanks for the reply regarding the Oregon USATF Clubs. I'm still looking into them.

To all: I mentioned in an earlier post that I'm running the Cascade Half Marathon this weekend. Anyone else running?
