Iowa runners

I'm a newbie here and I searched back a few pages but couldn't find an Iowa thread. Are there any Iowa runners here?

Re: Iowa runners
Are you new to running or a veteran? Do you know of any running clubs in the area? I just moved to W. Des Moines from Michigan and just started running (I'm doing the couch to 5 K program).

Re: Iowa runners
Thanks for the tips. Right now I stick pretty close to home and run in the subdivision near our townhouse. I just don't have time to go anywhere else.

Re: Iowa runners
I am fairly new to running but not new to working out -- I'm running in the Drake 8k this weekend (first race!!) and the Dam to Dam 20k on June 4th. I've been running with the Capital Striders Beginning Running club and that's been really fun. Capital Striders is a Des Moines area running club and we meet in West Des Moines to run every Monday night at 6. Just ran 6 miles tonight (they also have other groups that run less distances). For places to run, I really like the Clive Greenbelt Trail and will be moving to a townhouse soon and will be making use of the running trails along EP True Pkwy and the Jordan Creek Trail system. Possibly around the Raccoon River trails as well. Fitness Sports is definitely a good place to start looking around.

Down here in MT Pleasant (SE corner). Haven't seen any other runners on this board from down here mostly city runners. We have a fun run on Tuesday nights at 530 and track workouts on Thursday at 530. email if interested ljltmurray@mchsi.com Big variety of runners and speeds, small club though

Re: Iowa runners
Just wanted to say "Hi" to the rest of the Iowa runners in CoolRunning. It seems that just about all of you live in or around Des Moines.

I am in East Central Iowa..... near Waterloo. I am more than ready to get off the treadmill and back outdoors for runs again!

The warm weather is coming.....Enjoy!

I am from Michigan, not Iowa, and visit about 2 times a year in Grinnell. Last time I was there we went to Des Moines, what a beautiful "big" city. That Jordan Creek area is really booming.

When I do visit, I try to run and it seems like you can run forever down those country roads with corn on both sides... makes me think of the movie Children of the Corn!!!

<HR>

its a term to describe early in the morning.. its something i picked up in the army.. military time is expressed as numbers... 0530 hrs... said, "O 530" or 2200 hrs (10PM)... so O Dark 30 just means, "too freakin early in the morning..."

sorry...
