Ontario Runners Forum 2005 - Pt. II

Just when we get on a roll, they go and lock our forum. We would of gotten well over 1,000 post this year.

Oh, well. To start this next version I'm asking if anyone has got a Terry Fox Loonie yet? I'm still looking for one.

Good Luck to anyone running the Sporting Life 10K tomorrow.

Eddie

I was going to bandit a portion (6-7 km) as a sort of time trial, but I'm leaning against it since I have some nagging injuries. If I do run, it would make for four speed sessions in seven days.

I'll probably head that way on my long run to watch the leaders go by. Another reason not to run: it's shaping up to be pretty bad weather-wise at around 3 degrees.

Too short a race...too fast a course.

I'll stick to the Miserysauga Half in two weeks.

Eddie you did Nike last time it was in town didn't you?? Whatya think?

I don't know whether to do it or go to Ottawa...or just have a beer.

Hey - are there new rules now? A couple years ago weren't we up to about 80 pages?

Little slow today after a night of wine and yakking! Great to see everyone. Just going for a little run now - its sunny now but it was snowing in Guelph this morning!

Eddie,

Thanks for telling us all of that before I decided to build for all of winter and spring toward this race (I had inside information that it would be held in January).

Today was brutal. The weather was crappy aand so were my legs: ten miles in 72 minutes though.

Yeah, it sounds like a bit of a nightmare...but the shirts are orange this year.

I'd like to go to Ottawa, but I'm not sure my running buddy's husband is THAT Liberal and understanding.

Weather was great for the Sporting Life yesterday morning. Had my best time in four years for that race. Best part is the finish area at Steamwhistle park - so much room.

Looks like it's going to be a tad warm for the London half this coming Sunday though....with luck it'll be cloudy at least.

I ran the Sporting Life 10K on Sunday, and it was a beautiful morning for a race -- it's as though the hail and rain held off until we were through.

I'm one of those pumpkins out there in the Nike training shirts -- anytime I get a technical shirt for signing up for a race, I'm happy. I'm kinda diggin' on that orange.

I ran the "Island of Hope" 10K last year (same course) and I'm having trouble imagining 8,000+ runners on that course -- but I'm going to do it. I'm slow, though: aiming for a 50-55 minute 10K.

Cheers all!

James

What is this "running" thing y'all are talking about? I haven't been out for a week and a half. No excuses, really. I just keep letting work and other stuff get in the way.

Orthodox Easter was last weekend too. Spent 7 hours in church over 3 days and then 7 hours of eating on Sunday. DH's family did the lamb on the spit in the back yard. It's so much work for 15 minutes of eating!!!! I always skip the lamb, though, since it doesn't seem to agree with me.

Maybe I'll get out for a quick run today. I hope.

I find nobody in the clubhouse agrees with me.

My neighbors had a big do doing on next door on Sunday as well, open grills...nekid lamb going round 'n round. We always do a good Greek meal too, lamb chops this time (and they were delicious ).

So I head to the track this morn for some interval work..nuttin too heavy. As I finish up a young guy shows up and starts his 'warmup' and nearly my 1600 pace. There's nothing more deflating than finishing up 4 laps and trying to get your breath back, and someone else is keeping up while whistling.

11 days to Mississauga. I'd better get signed up.

Just one, received it in change at Canadian Tire I think. Like every other "special" quarter, it's now sitting in my bank.

How much luck did you have finding the Legion / Poppy quarters? They were pretty rare down this way.
