Thanks yar. What does the RAW stand for? Thanks for some running locations. I will check those out when we get settled.

Knock on wood, I do feel fairly safe on the streets too.

Hey

notquitethere

,

Congrats on the little one on the way. Your first?

By the way, the Dad's Day 5K is lots of fun. Get a good running stroller and bring the kiddo.

Thanks TX Dave!

I noticed in the other DFW thread that we run the same trail although different parts. I usually head north from Tulane (between Park and Parker) sometimesI'll head east at the starscenter. Have you checked out the trail to the west? I stil says it's closed but in decent visibility I might try the grass on the edge.

I ran Dad Fest in 2005 when it was still in Dallas and enjoyed it. This will be our second and final child. I'm planning on my son, he'll be three, 'running' the 50yard dash then I will push him in the jogger.

No, I was never sure about where the trail went from the starscenter. However, I looked it up in trying to find the name of the trail and it looks like it would be perfect to work into my long runs this year.

I ran the Dad Fest last year and did the exact same thing with my son. It was just before he turned 4. In fact, we're on the Dad's Fest picture page[/URL" target="_blank">. We're the first stroller picture, center row, purple stroller.

Anyways, he did the 50 yd. dash and was extremely excited that he got a little medal. He tells everyone he got it because he won. That was a great day.

Re: DFW runners! New thread

He had printed the wrong results for Bold in the Cold.  He had me placing second female, so I clicked on the "corrections" link and told him it wasn't me-I was in Houston.  So, he wrote me back telling me he inadvertantly printed last year's results, then he asked me if I'd do a race report on Houston since it was my first half.  I'm kind of glad he only kept it posted for a few days...makes me feel a little weird having personal stuff like that on the internet (and yet here I am posting on a forum!...but strangers don't read this do they?)

Cora- congrats on your great time. I am curious as to how you found Houstonians to be unhospitable? I lived in Houston and the suburbs for 12 years ( even though I am not fro Houston originally) and found exactly the opposite.

Re: DFW runners! New thread

Lala, I'm not going to elaborate because it would turn into a huge rant, which would put a very negative twist on something that was a very positive experience for me and my family.  I did say,  however, that they were unhospitable in the part of Houston that we were in, which was right in the heart of downtown Houston.  I also added that crowd support was excellent, which spoke for other parts of Houston other than downtown.

TX Dave,

did you happen to be on the trail Saturday (1/27) between 9 and 10:30 AM? Saw a lot of runners, thought one of them might be you.

Sorry, man. I'm a complete pansy when it comes to weather. I ran, but it was on the TM at the gym. It'll be March before I get outside.

On a side note, I'm always amazed at the number of older asian people I see walking on the trail.

Anyone in the North Fort Worth area (txdude, yar) that knows of a good running store? Thanks in advance. We are in the Keller area.

Man, you've got to get out more. Saturday morning was perfect running weather. About 50, sunny with a slight 5mph breeze from the south. I was actually overdressed because I expected 40 potential rain and 15mph north wind.

You are right there are a ton of older asian walkers on the trail and at all times. I'll see them early mornings or at 8PM it doesn't matter.
