St.Ojim & John 2635: What a great coincidence that you know each other. That's cool.

Question for anyone who has run the HM....... I went to the course site and it said that the full marathon turns onto the Avenue of the Giants while the HM turns the other way to the finish line. It also pointed out that the 10K runs on the Avenue. Does that mean that the HM doesn't run on the Avenue of the Giants?????

When visiting San Fran about 10 years ago, I went up to Muir Woods (North, near Sausalito) and took a walking/semi-hiking tour of that park. That was a fantastic trip with all those 1000+ year old redwoods. I imagine this race would be like that.

That is right .... the HM doesn't not run on the Avenue of the Giants which is the old US 101. Bull Creek Road is a little narrower than the Avenue but it does run through the virgin redwood groves and is in the State Park.

this is part of the half marathon course.

Thanks for the information. Well, that certainly looks beautiful.

Aww Geez!

That sounds like fun, but I'm already committed to a higher profile CA race in that time frame (Miwok.)

Hey, I'm bumping this back up to find out who is and who isn't. I'm in sensitive negotiations with a certain high ranking official here in the hup household about making the trek up to Humboldt for the half.

SLOJim - are reservations at the campground for specific spaces? If so, are you in a particular spot? You no doubt will want to reserve 5-10 spots on either side of you to assure that some yahoo like myself doesn't end up too near

Who's planning on being there?

I'm in, hup, and I've already reserved my camp spot. D'oh! I should have found out which one SLOJim was at first, we may be racing each other for the facilities next May.

Well, since I've already booked the flight, hotel, and rental car, I would safely say we're going to be there. As Mrs. Labduck is fond of saying, "I love not camping!"

This is my first goal race of 2007. I'm already training for it now.

Would I be crazy to camp RVless? (in a tent?) I've got warm stuff, but the last thing I need is to freeze my cajones off the night before a race
Anyone planning on tent camping?

Labduck - can I ask where you are staying?
We have stayed in Fortuna, Eureka, and Garberville the times we've gone. Garberville was the most fun to me. It reminded me of the town in the TV series "Northern Exposure"
We went to mass on Saturday at the little wooden church and felt like we were at a family get together. It was fun.

We're staying in Eureka for two nights (May 3 & 4), and then in Fortuna for two nights (May 5 & 6). We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Fortuna. I noticed that all the hotels in Fortuna hiked up their room rates for that weekend. Supply and demand...

Bump! Does "tent only" mean I can drive my car in there and set up my tent, or do I have to bike/pack my tent in (hyuck, hyuck, all the way from Eugene)? Camping newbie here.
