Boston Marathon: Helping the Food Bank--Begging the Boomers

Last year I lived a dream by running the Boston Marathon-- something I had wanted to do for twenty-five years. I had a great time as I high-fived my way to a 3:29:57 finish. But I added to my great time by raising money for the Greater Boston Food Bank. It was a great double.

Fundraising was a bit of a challenge--being a Canadian raising money for a local US charity(no tax receipt for Canadians) but I did it and I want to do it all over again.. I am signed up for this year's Boston and have signed up again to raise money for the food bank. There is lots of information about the food bank at www.gbfb.org[/URL" target="_blank"> . It is a great cause.

I have emailed my friends and am badgering my family and co-workers so I thought why not bug the Boomer bunch. You can help me make my Boston Marathon a great success by contributing. And there are two simple ways to do this.

1) Electronically: If you would like to make a donation, please visit
www.gbfb.org/marathon[/URL" target="_blank"> There is a short blurb about the team and you can follow the links to indicate that you like to sponsor me (mark wigmore) in the Boston Marathon
2) By Mail: Send a cheque to the Greater Boston Food Bank c/o Nancy Rice, 99 Atkinson Street, Boston, MA 02118 USA and write my name in the "for" line. Make the cheque out to Greater Boston Food Bank.

I hope you can help out. I apologize for the sollicting--but there is only one way to raise money and that is to ask.

I would also encourage other Boston Boomers who have run their BQ to sign up for one of the charities. Pick one that appeals to you and you will be considered a star. There is nothing like doing the double of the Boston marathon while fund raising for a worthy cause.

Mark

Great idea, Mark. I'll contribute.

(You may wish to fix the second link in your post to omit the period).
