Cross country question

Hi, my daughter started running XC for our highschool team last year when she was an eighth grader and did very well, 5th in the state in our league. The fastest she has ever run was back in the 6th grade doing 3.2 miles just under 19 minutes on a flat course with two hills. Her best time last year was under 21 mins, and so far this year, it is 22.01. She is fairly new at this sport, because she also plays club soccer, which is her first love, and she has been playing soccer since 5 yrs. old. She plays soccer with her club along with XC for her school, unfortunately both sports are in the fall. Anyhow, she is losing interest in the XC and is not sure she wants to pursue it next year. I think she is pretty gifted in this and want to encourage her to continue, but if she doesn't really like it, should I just let her drop it? How can I make it more interesting for her? Unfortunately, not many of her classmates are interested in this sport, which might have something to do with it. She loves to run on her own time even in the North Carolina mountains, which is never a flat run, also mountain biking and cycling classes with me inbetween fall and spring soccer. Any comments? Thanks, Cinda

Re: Cross country question
That must be frustrating, especially since she has talent. I am 49 and ran cross country in HS. If nothing else it got me into the habit of practicing probably the easiest and cheapest way to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors in all season.
My own 13 year old daughter won't go near any sport, so be glad that she at least likes soccer.
Good luck

Re: Cross country question
I don't think you can make her do it. knew very good runners in HS and they felt pressure to run and burned out quickly. don't force it let her do what she likes and she will excel at it.
