Kripalu is the yoga my teacher practices. (We had a sub once who did "power" yoga which we all thought was an oxymoron!) I think the class works so well for me because Michelle modifies based on the needs of the group. She usually starts class by asking if there are any requests or pain/tightness that needs to be worked on as part of class that day. There are younger Army wives just here for a year and full of energy. Then, there are people like me and those already retired. This is my first yoga class, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I love it. Everyone works at her own level and we come in all shapes and sizes. None of us is a pretzel! I just found some info!:

Thanks for fruit/veggie info. I can't wait until our farmers' market starts again.

Lynne, this is one of my favorite ploys. I read somewhere about a successful loser who "punctuated" her dinner with a hot drink. It signalled to her that she was done for the day. And there are so many delicious teas to choose from. I esp. like caffeine-free chai and Tazo Orange. I carry it upstairs to my room after dinner, while dh and kids kindly put leftovers away.

Euphoric, have you considered watered-down wine? You wouldn't do this with great wine, but with everyday table wine, it might be acceptable. But if you really don't want any, just say no, or no thank you.

Now I?m just using 3# weights with WATP (they say to use 2# weights & upper body only) but it?s not the same thing as the weight training. I don?t have weights at home heavier than 5#. I?ll get over there this week and see what weight machines/weights they have. It?s just that I have an hour commute and it?s easier to shower and dress for work than shower dress for workout, workout and shower again and dress for work. It?s just a matter of getting into the routine again. I used to get ready for work at a local gym years ago but I didn?t have the commute. If I go at lunchtime (most people here do) or after work, I have the same clothes changing issue. I?m guessing there are a lot less people over there at 6:00 a.m. It?s opened 24 hours. OK, enough whining.

3 and 5 pounders are small enough usually you could hold them together to make 8's. Also, working out with weights shouldn't get you THAT sweaty that you'd need a shower, one of those wet wipes should be enough. What about after work? Where there is a will there is a way.

Lynne, thanks for getting us started again this week. I hope that your find your mojo, i only know that i don't have it.

hally, glad to hear that you had a good week last week, now to have 2 in a row.

bap enjoy your time in england and don't gain too much of that 9 back.

evanflein, the same thing happens to me after a long run, i always hope that it stays off but midweek some of the weight is back.

roy, hope that you are able to hold the weight at bay until you are able to get back to full health.

I am down 4 pounds to 151 this week after being up 2 last week. My pattern is usually after a big loss like that i usually gain some of it back or stay the same.
Like Hally I had a good eating week last week, good portion control and no snacking . . . not even on the weekend. Will try to do the same this week.

Goodluck with meeting your goals.

GH, none of us can do that postition! We all just work toward getting better. That's why I think the teacher and the class group are so important. My rule: If everyone is dressed really cute, I'm in the wrong place.

It sounds as if people are having lots of positive outcomes and finding solutions for challenges. The nice weather means more time outside doing things we enjoy. Happy Spring!

I like the almond sunset, but love the bengal spice, also by celestial seasonings. Current favorite is the Tazo Wild Sweet Orange, which has a lot of flavor for an herbal tea. Lucky for me, dd works at a coffee shop and one of the perqs is a free pound of coffee or box of tea every week.

I have been helped by reserving 100 calories for after dinner, and have that with a cup of tea. When I look back at what I was doing when I lost weight in '05, I can't believe I was so strong. I guess I was very motivated. I went to be hungry every night, and enjoyed it in a way, because I knew the scale would have good news for me in the morning.

Barb, sounds like you're doing really well. Maybe you should plan a tiny snack just before bed, just to get you through the night?

Sorry, Tazo is a brand. I was going to include the link but Tazo.com is one of those fancy sites, with frames so that you can't link to a specific tea. This orange is really orangey.

Stevia is an all natural sweetener that is made from a leaf of a plant. It's not supposed to raise blood sugar levels. Some don't like the taste, just like with any artificial sweetener. I buy it in packets of 100 to carry with me at Vitamin Shoppe (they call it an herbal supplement) and use about half of one in tea, I don't sweeten coffee. I also buy it in a large shaker container at Trader Joe's for use at home.

I don't know about chocolate chai but I love their Indian Spice Teahouse Chai.
Also, in the summer I like to make iced tea with the green mint tea.
I use the decaf one.

This is quite the tea thread! I've tried that some evenings and you're right, it does help. That sweet orange sounds good... But I'm also prone to having my stomach wake me up! I hate it when at 3 a.m. I wake up just starving. Then have a 20 minute discussion with tummy that breakfast is really not that far away, that we don't eat at night, remember? Good grief. Between that, potty trips and letting the stoopid dog out to do her thing, it's amazing I get any sleep at all.

I feel like posting my weigh in today cuz I was down a pound (I peeked!) but just got invited out by a vendor for drinks and dinner tonight... Uh oh... I'll just say g'bye to that pound (or is it "welcome back?") right now I guess. I'll drink water like a fiend tomorrow to flush it out...!

How's everyone doing? I thought this could use a bump.
I have a class in NYC tomorrow and I am not dragging a lunch in with me. Wish me luck being good. I already have a deli with a salad bar in mind over by the library. Salad bars in NYC are far from dietetic though unless you are very careful.

The rest of the week has been good, except for those midnight munchies. A few spoonfuls of cottage cheese is not the end of the world though
