Weightloss Pact - Week 2

Week 2 weigh in: no loss/no gain this week, holding steady with the 2 lb loss from last week. I consider this a success, though, what with the reduced mileage and the fact that I am scheduled to start my period in a couple of days.

The ice cream restriction has become easier to bear. I?ve been having yogurt or sugar-free Popsicles instead, which helps.

With the marathon scheduled Sunday, I'm not going to try to diet until afterward, but I'm trying to eat healthy stuff in the meantime. Everything I've read says that carb-loading is not really effective for women, so I'm not going to pig out for the next 3 days, but I will eat extra-well on Saturday. Looking forward to that...

Holly, I believe holding steady is successful too. Good luck on the marathon. Is it your first? Can you find the article on carbo loading for women for me? I've tried it too before tri's and it doesnt seem to help. But would like to read up on it.

Afraid to get on the scale.

Laurie

Good job, lyndenrunner! (although I sure don't remember thinking you need to lose any weight when I was checking you out )

Just to confirm, no particular reason, you did weigh yourself while stark naked right?

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 2
I gained one more pound from last week. Yay! (remember, you all hate me 'cause I'm trying to gain 3.5 pounds and get back to 158 lbs). Must be the chocolate chip cookies & milk I've been scarfing before I go to bed.

Unfortunately, with day light savings time here, I tend to lose weight since I become more active (i.e., yardwork and golf). We'll see...

I weighed 158 pounds when I ran Portland, since I have gained 14,so it is time to get the weight off and put some spring back into my step.

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 2
WTG you losers and maintainers!

week 1: 1.5
week 2: +.5
total so far: -1
sigh

Going to try (again) to be stricter with the calories. I will try to embrace my hunger, maybe visualizing myself in DH's fat prison, burning calories by scrambling for dry crusts of bread cast into my cell, and clanging my tin cup along the bars. I feel thinner already.

Seriously, Holly, I knew you were a kindred soul when you mentioned eating L&F yogurt with Fiber One. This is one of my things. Yes, the Kix are quite good with yogurt, but you can't let them linger or they'll get too soggy.

Bought some new capris yesterday which will fit nicely when I lose 3 or 4 pounds. Motivation!

Good luck to everyone.

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 2
Well, last week I had a problem in that I couldn't see the scale without my glasses. Someone told me that crouching down distorted the measurement (because it made my butt heavier?).

Here is my solution:

It's still a little hard to read the numbers, what with hair in my eyes and blood rushing to the head. But I think I'm at 184.

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 2
Holly, you're doing great just to maintain. I haven't read much about carb loading, but now I'm curious what my book on Running for Women says about it. Laurie, even if you stay the same, you'll be on track with your 2.5 loss last week. I see Lynden and ksrnr are both down quite a bit. I really think it's easier for guys to lose weight, at least initially.

I weigh stark naked every morning out of habit. Even if I showered the night before I still take off my jammies to weigh in. I have an old balance beam scale so I can't get a decimal reading, but it shows a 2 pound loss for me! I'm so happy to get off this plateau I've been at for weeks. My son is getting Married on May 19th, so if I lose 2 pounds a week until then I will be ecstatic!

I'll tabulate the weekly/Grand totals again if you want me to.

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 2
Week 1 -6 due to illness (thanks for all the well wishing and sympathy!)
Week 2 gained back 3.4
net -2.6 but I've been awfully hungry.

Good luck on the marathon Holly. I think carbo-loading is overated personally. Gatorade and Gu work quite well at keeping glycogen stores up.

Congrats to all! I don't weigh until tomorrow. Bought lots of healthy groceries and a couple of treats. Holly, I have the butterfly net ready.
