Weightloss Pact - Week 3

Okay, kids, where are we this week?

Week 3 weigh-in puts me exactly where I was last week ? 2 lbs down from the beginning, but no gain/no loss this week. So I have 2 weeks to lose 3 lbs. Now that I have this marathon nonsense out of the way, maybe I can concentrate on my weight loss goals. Of course, this reverse taper stuff is not going to help.

I may have to file for an extension of time?

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
I'm at -5 from the start, which is 1 more than my original goal, but my willpower is starting to erode. My goal now is to just hold steady until the weather warms up and my running mileage gets back to my summer level.

I hope others here are having some good luck with this as well!

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
I check weight tomorrow, but we have two more eating functions this weekend. I've been eating the same breakfast and lunch all week. It seems easier not to think about it and I know I will feel satisfied after the meal. Warm weather clothes fit, even the ones that were pushing the limit last year. I wore my smallest tights this morning and I didn't feel like a bloodwurst in them.

Hitting a plateau might not be a bad thing. Maintaining a lower weight must mean you are not exceeding your daily caloric needs. How's that for rationalization? Now you can start thinking about the next level of loss. Aren't you suppose to increase a training program by only 10%? Maybe we should think of weight loss in the same way.

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
I am one more pound down, woo hooo! I have managed to take off a steady pound a week. I think I will try to keep this going. Maybe I can reach my high school weight by summer. I have read that losing weight can improve your VO2 max immediately, so I should be faster too.

It is getting more difficult though and Easter is around the corner. I think I better hard boil and color eggs this weekend.

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
I have no idea where I'm at, at this time. I quit using the treadmill at the gym. ( too boring ) and that was where I had been weighing myself. so I guess I need to go out today after work and buy a scale.
I have noticed my clothes are fitting better so thats a plus

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
Hi, guys.

I'm down a total of 2.6 lbs since I started, which was 2.5 weeks ago, so I'm very pleased with that! I have 5.6 lbs to reach my usual weight of 110 lbs (I'm 5' 3.5''), which I've had so much trouble maintaining since beginning marathon training last year! I just want to eat all the time (it's not even that I'm so hungry but it's almost psychological, like if I run that many miles, I should be hungry), and I've felt lately like I'm losing control. So this is great - I feel like I'm getting a handle on things once again.

Congratulations to all the other losers, and I hope everyone has a great week this week.

Oh, oh. I lost 3 lbs and dropped back to 154. Grrr...

But I go on the road next week for work, so that will fatten me up some.

U. ManWithaBeard, having your own scale will make it much easier to weigh in naked too!

Poor {{Labduck}}, have a cookie.

I gained 2 back of the 4 I lost! I ate so much this week I think some of the neighbor dogs are missing. Where did all my discipline go?

I'm still down 1 pound, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up! Onward and Downward! I'll get that pesky pound off this week!

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
I lost 2 this week, putting me at -3 for the three weeks. Mustn't rest on my laurels. I'm within striking distance of getting back below a certain magic number, and can't blow it now that I'm starting to feel good.

There's a theory that less variety in your menu will help you stick to a diet. Fewer tempting choices, less desire to sample the different foods you have in the house. This sounds very dull but works for me. 3 weeks ago I made a daily menu and just repeated it for several days, and it helped me stay on track. I had no decisions to make, so there was no wavering and less temptation. (As for breakfast, I eat the same one every day, and have found that if I don't eat those two dropped eggs on toast in the morning, I'm more likely to overeat later in the day.)

Then there's the opposite school of thought, that variety will help you stick to a plan because you'll be able to satisfy cravings and will feel less deprived. Once again the key is finding What Works For You, and then executing the plan.

Congrat's to you losers and maintainers, and good luck to everyone!

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
Labduck, how on earth did you do that? Have some heavy food while you are away next week. Ilene, you've been so consistent with 1 pound a week, good for you! Holly, Karen and others are not far behind. Euphoric, I'm glad that your summer clothes fit, yeah! Eating the same menu for breakfast and lunch works for me too but gets a tad boring at times. UglyMan w/o a Beard, I can't believe you don't have a scale at home. Your wife must be at her ideal weight.

I see that some of the bigger losers are now gaining a little back, that's usually what happens to me, but I lost another 2 pounds this week, and "luck" had nothing to do with it Rochrunner! This is definitely hard work, and dress shopping is so humbling when they can't get the zipper zipped! This challange is really helping me Holly. Thanks! 2 more weeks....

Re: Weightloss Pact - Week 3
I'm down 1.5, to 119, my usual weight for a while now.. I'd like to lose more but am not sure how much. Probably not more than 4. At least 2.

Holly, all things considered I think that's really good.

I think everyone is doing well, except for Labduck. . Please understand, it's hard for us have the level of sympathy that we should. But we are trying.

Even those that gained a little, sort of along with Euphorics 10% thought (a good one ! ) this is a stabalization process. ksrunr, discipline has an invisibility cloak & an evil malicious side. mine likes to hide too.

willdebest, does this mean you're feeling better?

I do better too when there's not lots of variety. Or maybe the advantage is like you said, you don't have to think about it, & it's faster. Time can be one of the biggest problems. my last 3 days were sort of weird... sprouted grain bread & peanut butter for breakfast, (etched in stone), mid-morning raw oatmeal w/fruit & yogurt or walnuts, raw greens & tofu & toast for lunch. then rice cakes & dark chocolate for dinner (not too much). & strawberries to munch in the evening. I get to where it's too much trouble. tonight though, salmon w/wasabi mustard, leeks & greens & asparagus, & soba noodles.

Sherie, I like your attitude.

Congratulations to everybody. It is nice when things fit.
