Going to run after work for a change today, one of my training partners is racing in a 15K this Saturday so we're going for a 10K shakedown run.

Yeah DG9 that was me. Over the weekend, we implemented a major release of our main software that we had heavily customized. I was up working till 4:00 AM Monday morning sweating out a major hiccup. Our plan was to be up by 7:30 AM Monday. It actually went up at Noon. Not too bad considering what I thought about 9 hours earlier ...

Grrrr...the Subway Sandwich is faster than me!
This is more embarrassing than when the crawfish beat me...

Just tell yourslef it is the angle of the camera...an optical illusion.

the only exercise I am getting today is flopping on the couch and nose blowing. I feel like carp.

good thing I went an extra 2 miles yesterday, thinking this could be coming on.

7 miles this morning in about 1:13. My pace was all over the map today - I think it was those durn hills again. I ran a double loop that has many hills. But the memorable one is fairly short and really steep. The second time around was a killer!

I have some questions about my Garmin that I'll post on a separate thread, later today.

Good running everyone. And good resting too, those of you who need it. (Seems like lots of stuff is going around).

Oh, the ignominy of being overtaken by a Subway sandwich. I have tears in my eyes . . . from laughing so hard. That is a hilarious picture Labuck and, as I understand, it was actually published somewhere. You will never live it down.

quote:
Hey Meg, could this imaginary anguish be considered pain and suffering? Or do I just chalk it up to the CRANBARES? Do I have a basis for an imaginary lawsuit? Or am I just dreaming?

PBJ, I think it might have been the CRANBARES, which sound to me like cranberries on steroids. No wonder you couldn't sleep.

Well, I wish that I had only "pesky" winds to deal with today as lucky WRFB did. Instead, I awoke to 20 - 25 mph winds, the kind that rattle the street signs. Lovely. I gave up any hope of running a fast finish medium long run and went out to struggle through my 11 miler. I did manage a few 7:00 miles into the 20 mph wind so I suppose they would have been sub-7:00 without the wind. Anyway, 11.5 miles in 1:24:00.

Robin, glad to hear you are resting today. It seems I always get sick during taper time. Fortunately for you, it seems to have occurred far enough out from the actual race that you will be okay.

Kimble, great to see you back on track. I hope that you are able to finish up the program without further problems. If you keep it easy, I think you'll do great.

Meg

a bit chilly this am as I did the 'ride to work' experiment--14 miles into Hartford on my mountain bike (I figured it to be easier to get through downtown East Hartford and Hartford than my road bike). Only took a little over an hour but man was it cold when I started-low 30's without the wind chill. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm almost done with patients and will get to ride home in warmer weather. yeah!! Will hit the roads for a run in the pm later on.

Labduck,
You caused quite a commotion as I couldn't stop chuckling over your comment and pic/post as I was talking to the CT surgeon's office. I think they think I've lost it...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No more CR at work!! Snork/chuckle/gag...sigh...

Nice running everyone.

Tramps,

Er, no, actually, I do believe all that. Feel free to point out to me what you feel I shouldn't believe. I can take it.

Perch,

I was thinking in terms of returning to my normal base week, not in terms of a multiple marathon buildup.

I have decided not to run the Flying Pig Marathon after all. My husband will begin working lots of overtime (3+hours/day & some Saturdays) starting Monday, leaving me to handle all the parenting/household commitments for several months. With working fulltime, coaching my daughter?s soccer team, and getting my son to his traveling games, this is a fun, but hectic season. I don?t think I really feel like marathon training anymore.

Besides, I?m tired of being so serious about running - planning, training, worrying about weather and my training plan and my long runs and injuries, etc. I think its time to return to just running for fun and fitness for a while. I?m going back to fitting running into my life, rather than scheduling my life around my running.

I will probably run the Pig HM instead with a friend (this is his first), play with my Garmin, run some smaller races, and train later for the local September Air Force Marathon.

That being said, do you think it?s okay to return to my normal 40mpw schedule next week?

Labduck ? That shot is priceless. You have some cute legs!

Look, buddy, I have a lot of money on you for Boston. So lay off the CRANBARES for the duration and get 'er done.

Thanks for the morning laughs, guys.

LabD: Great photo... at least you are still ahead of those little kids!

PBJ: Hilarious!

After overdoing it with the upper body weights on Tuesday and last night's swimming workout, I am sore from my neck to my pubic bone, front and back, both arms included. Could hardly open the door to the building this morning without the help of a kind gentleman. I'm such a wimp. I need serious core work.

Think I'll take the day off...

Poor Labduck, when you and I run a 5K together, at least you will finish ahead of me, if not the sandwich.

When are we going to race together? I need you to pull me to a sub-20. In fact, if you could tie a rope to my waist and pull me along, that would be good.
