Swimming with a healing wound

I have a wound on the back of my ankle that has been healing for the past 2 weeks. It is non-bloody, and there is no scarring, it is just pinkish. I cover this with a bandaid. My question is, how can I swim with this? What should I use to cover it up, or is that not neccessary? I don't think you're allowed to swim in public pools with a healing wound or a band-aid.
I am recovering from a bicycle wreck and have road rash all over my leg. I checked with my pool director last week and he said as long as I had scabs I would be fine. BUT, he said, chlorine does not promote healing. I did not swim last week because I was really scabby and in pain but I did go yesterday. Not to be gross but the scabs got green and mushy and I'm not sure it was a good idea.
Don't swim with a band-aid. It will just fall off, and there's nothing worse than an old band-aid floating in the pool. If it's not bleeding, it shouldn't really be an issue. Throw some Aquaphor healing ointment, or similar product on it, and swim as usual.

having a healing wound is not good for swimming. It can not recover soon.
Swimming illnesses are usually caused by swallowing bacteria-contaminated water, but swimming with an open cut can allow bacteria to infiltrate your body through your wound. The bacteria that are often found in pools and other bodies of water can lead to recreational water illnesses, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you must swim while you have a cut, ensure that you properly protect your skin to avoid infection or illness from the water.
Contact your doctor and ask if a waterproof bandage is appropriate for your cut.
