Not bad, all things considered. It doesn't like at all if I have to push off in a left or right direction. As long as I run forward and don't turn around too quickly, things are fine.

At one point during this morning's run, approaching traffic both in front of me and behind me had me exiting the roadway for the shoulder which was terribly uneven and slanted. As my feet struggled to find a smooth and even surface, the nerves in my big toe let me know in no uncertain terms that I neeed to get back on the flat road surface as quickly as possible. (Ouch)

Running spouses? Hmmm! Can't see it happening! DH likes to cycle ride occasionally, accompanying our DD on her pony, plays golf and cricket, but can't get him to do any real exercize.

Doing W8 again this week - am in need of running after yesterday's chocolate-fest! Hope you all had a relaxing Easter!

34F, winds around 10-15 mph 20-something wind chill. A mild winter day for upstate NY...except this is April 9th.

6.35 miles including 2.1 miles of warm-up/cool down, and 6*880@10k with 440 Recovery@easy/recovery pace. Ran it without a watch, but overall time was 55:00. I did some guessing, some interpolationg, some extrapolating, and some conjecturing, and came up with an average pace of about 7:20/mile for the "speed" sections and 9:40 for the res/.recovery intervals. Or thereabouts. Close enough for this workout. All I know is I didn't get hurt.

Looking forward to easy 6 tomorrow at daybreak.

Paivaa! Greetings from Oulu on a fine Finn day! We had a wonderful outdoor run today. The pedestrian pathways here are incredible. So many people were out walking, biking, and running. It was sunny and clear, -3C, very early spring with snow still on the ground, beautiful stands of birch and pine along the paths. There are bays with open water but some areas are still ice covered. Today MrF ran with me; 10 in 1:33:17, for about 9:20. He speeded up and left me at 8 miles (so patient). Yesterday we were in Helsinki and after a day of walking and visiting a museum we used the rec center, 40 min. on the elliptical and then 5 miles in 38:50. Tomorrow MrF has business so I plan to run in the a.m. then walk around town. Tomorrow evening we return to Helsinki. Hyvästi.

Roch, :-)

Bill, good, I think? that sounds like driving with a stiff neck. great as long as you don't need to look at anything off center. both dangerous. sigh.

SS, another :-). it'll be even better at home when I have sound.

yes!
I hope they'll like where they are going. do we get to keep the pillows? that way Sally will come too.

test results: (thanks sue for asking)
I wish I knew what they meant. -). my dr. is on vacation so I had them faxed to me.
'final impressions'
Normal stress echocardiogram.
Negative stress ecg.
Above average functional capacity.
Aypical chest pain with stress....

which takes me back to low red blood cell count. I'm sharing this because I wish I would have known about it 3 months ago & don't want any of you to go through it if you don't need to.
from assorted sites:
"The oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood is, therefore, decreased. Persons with anemia may feel tired and fatigue easily, appear pale, develop palpitations and become unusually short of breath."
"The signs and symptoms of anemia include:
weakness or fatigue
dizziness
headache
shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
chest pain or palpitations
ringing in the ears
feeling chilled "

I had all of these, at almost any level of activity. I started taking iron supplements I think in late Jan., obeying my little small voice. even with that, on 4/4 the levels were abnormally low. So in Nov.-Dec. when I trained much too hard for my newbie state, I was probably very anemic, it could make sense that I crashed hard.. I assume the supplements were why I was able to start running again a little. all my guesses, nothing official.
There were a couple little trace regurgitations & a trivial pericaridal effusion, but trace & trivial is ok i hope.

thanks for listening.

hb henrun! ditto patty's thought.

hugs to all boston bound.

Hi Boomers!
Went to the Canyons AC for an easy workout. 45 min @60% + upper body weight machines. I tried something a bit different on TM, set the avg HR to 60% on the machine it would slow down alot at times the hr would drop way to low then it would pick up quite a bit and then go way over. Could be my conditioning has something to do with it. I will be doing this for awhile until I get my aerobic fitness back.
After my w/o I forced myself to stay at the club, setting on a couch looking across the Bitterroot siping coffee and eating granola bars. Have been getting in a bad habit of getting my w/o over and rushing back home and not getting the respite that I need, could be a source of my depression.
Good Runs All, Larry

Larry - sorry to hear you're feeling down. I hope the spring, with its promise of warm weather and new blooms, helps to bring your spirits up.

Tammy - I did end up buying a Triks skirt (Marathon Girl - isn't that what you got?) but what I was really impressed with was the Triks summer-weight top I got with it. The tech material is soft, slinky, stretchy, super lightweight - nothing pulls or rubs or scratches, loose-fitting but not baggy. I couldn't believe how good it felt on. I think I could wear that in 90 degrees and feel cool. I now have running clothes for every varience of temperature from 5 to 90 degrees. I told my husband I shouldn't have to buy anything more than shoes for years. He looked relieved...

Been running 13, 14, 15k in the last few days.

Great run yesterday - 15k in 1:15:05. I'm pretty happy with the pace.

I really admire you guys going to Boston. Best of luck everyone!

I got a nice, easy 6 in the rain with the Tater dog. He hates the rain and will draft behind me to keep the drops from hitting his face. After my run I did a little last minute shopping for Boston. I picked up a couple of disposable rain ponchos, hand warmers and some RedHot for my legs.

Henrun: you are my hero. I can only hope that I will be celebrating my 70-something birthdays running hills.

Did my normal trail run in 1:08 today. Usual time is 1:15 or so. I felt like running fast so I did.

Back in shorts, temp. in the mid-40's. Don't be pullin' that **** again, Ma Nature!

Ate too much yesterday. DW talked me into making my Chili Dip with cheese and Hormel turkey chili. Ate it with Tostitos and Frito Scoops. It's great--till you realize you sucked down about 2000 calories...BEFORE DINNER!!!

Yech! Came home and did an hour on the bike before bed.

Labduck--No worries about your Boston bet tanking. It's on the board in Vegas so PBJ is 'committed'...

Tim

TMWIP ? I?ll wear mine if you wear yours. My friend in Italy says everyone there wears 2-pieces, regardless of body type. Besides, everyone will be too busy looking at your fabulous runner?s legs to worry about your tummy. Actually, I not only bought the Nike 2-piece (and bought both the skirt bottom and boy-shorts bottom) but I also bought a Nike 1-piece. I?m so indecisive about these things. I was thinking I would return one of the bottoms after I decided which one I wanted, but now I can?t decide (It?s the TOP that I really like ? black and turquoise, and the straps are made in a way that won?t fall down). At least I won?t have to buy a new suit for several years. BTW, get a load of the crazy sizing with swimsuits ? I normally wear a size 4-5 and I bought a size 14 for my 1-piece. Just how tight do they think you should wear these?

And what does TMWIP stand for? I think the last part is ?Woman in Pink,? is that right?
<HR>

Good - Keep them all!

TMWIP - The Mysterious Woman in Pink - A nickname I picked up from Pro's RR because he didn't know my name . . . Works out well, pink is my favorite color.

An Easter Bunny with exceptional taste! My Easter and Valentine's Day candy always came from Munson's growing up . . . and it still does. They have the best fudge - not, sugary or grainy - very smooth and creamy! Now, I live even closer to the main store . . . I wonder if I run there and back, if it would burn off enough calories to offset the damage I would do there?
