Re: Sat 4/14 Boomer Runs
morning boomers,

it figures, the one day I'm second on the thread is a rest day. I did do callanetics this a.m. which I wasn't supposed to do, I'd wanted to see if my legs would be less tired tomorrow. but was too tired to do them last night. so.

Roy, wow. How did you do that to yourself? Glad you're getting better . Care to tell me how long you've been doing MAF pace? I'm trying it too, losing patience sometimes, I think you're supposed to do it for 8 to 12 weeks. I'm sure it's in one of my books but I've looked & keeping finding everything else but that. I've also heard different ideas re how important it is to keep to that only. I believe dtoce says it's good to vary it a bit. I like that. will have to review all the threads I've printed now I'm able to do a little more.
I hope mrs. roy is ok this morning. It sounds like you had a very nice run.

all supportive happy vibes and fairy dust and good wishes and whatever else could possibly help to all the weekend racers. & the Monday crew, of course. Can't even imagine how you all must be feeling.

Good Morning Boomers!

12.2 mile run today, the last six at my hoped-for HM pace (ave 9:02). Quite sproinky today really. My run was well-fueled by last night?s ice cream cone and big handful of Easter chocolate (MustangSally ? I took your advice).

Have an hour?s drive to DS?s soccer game, so off we go.

Good luck to the racers!

Re: Sat 4/14 Boomer Runs
Last 5K EZ run before Boston felt good out there all though left knee is a little sore after the run (it will be fine).

Now out to coach my daughters' team in the tournament and then off on the road to Boston. Should be there late late tonight.

See you soon boomers.

Re: Sat 4/14 Boomer Runs
Good morning, boomers.

5.1 easy with 6 100m striders thrown in for whatever reason. Didn't much feel like running this morning, but of course did so anyway. I was fine after the first mile or so, though.

I got caught up on my sleep -- I think I slept almost 9 hours! I love weekends.

5.1 miles 41:36 (8:07/mi)

Travel safely all of you who are not racing locally. Oh, to be in Boston this weekend. Have a great Patriot's Day.

2 mile morning run in Boston Temps - 40 "with a real feel of 25". I beg to differ as I ran in yoga pants and short sleeved t-shirt. I hope there are some Boomers enjoying this beautiful day. I am looking forward to meeting you all.

Good Morning!
Nice mileage builup Roy!
Holly WTG on the 12 and the ice cream
Tall, just make sure you sleep late tomorrow. You'll need strength to pull all those Boomers up Heartbreak!

Lots of sleep, just like WRFB (9 hrs!). Can you smell the hot French Toast..yum.
50 min Elliptical alternating 5 min forward and 5 min backwards, easy pace AHR 140. Really felt in in the quads going backwards.

Have greta runs

Re: Sat 4/14 Boomer Runs
Happy weekend, everyone, and good luck to all those who are racing!

Roy - glad you had such a nice solo run. Sounds like your injury is easing up finally!

Did W8D3 of the C25K today. It went fine - no aches or pains, not out of breath etc etc. On the next treadmill was a man probably in his late 60s - his fitness was incredible. Couldn't help noticing his monitor and he was doing a hilly programme at 6-7 mph with intervals of 8-9 mph thrown in. I wanted to ask him how long he'd been running, but never know what the etiquette is on this sort of thing! Anyway, also had a lovely ride with DD this morning - we went up the local gallop! Horses enjoyed letting off steam!

Have a good run/workout, everyone!

Long run of 16 miles at 2 hrs 44 min. Training for Bayshore Marathon in Traverse City. Didn't feel too bad.

Starting to work on a little more speed but at 6' 6" and 230, speed is a relative thing!

Good training everybody!

Re: Sat 4/14 Boomer Runs
Good morning all. Good luck to all the Bommer racers this weekend and here's hoping that the wind changes direction and pushes our Boston runners towards the finish in beantown.

Didn't post last night but got in 7 miles with the track team and got out this morning and put in another 11 in 1:31:30 (8:20 pace). Have a nice dry weekend all. We have a track meet tomorrow if the Noreaster does not blow it away.

Good running.

Mike "GG" B

Edited my pace per mile on Saturday's run.

Re: Sat 4/14 Boomer Runs
I would like to start posting my runs on this forum.
I'm 70 plus years old and have been running for 31 years and the feet show it. Lots of marathons and to many races to remember. My best marathon was a 3:03 when I was 43 and my last was the 100th Boston marathon which I qualified for in Chicago where I was raised. I now live close to Boston.
The injuries have taken their toll on me but I still enjoy running and now a lot of swimming. I hope I'm not to old for this group.
Today I walked 2 miles and ran 1mile. Then went to the local pool 84 degrees constant and floated in the deep end for 40 minutes. Tommorow I hope to go for a long run.
