Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
The Beers slept in today (6:00 am), after staying up very late last night (11:00pm). Today was just 10 miles for me, bringing this lovely stepback week to close.

1:37:49 at a sproinky 9:45 pace. 60F and sunny.

In celebration of Earth Day, I'm going to spend a good bit of the rest of the day weeding, mulching and getting my garden ready for putting in flowers in the next few weeks. What a difference a week makes - last week at this time I was trudge-trudge-trudging through a 20-miler in cold driving rain, hating life.

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
PDR - that's the same pace I held in my 10 mile run last week (1:37:48 for me)

rest day for me. My right inner ankle is a bit "torquey" feeling after yesterday's long run. My knee and IT band feel great though so I am pleased with that.

This afternoon, DS and I will go catch a matinee - we haven't done that in long time. DH returns from his racing wknd (car racing) later this evening, so I'll just enjoy the afternoon with my son. Will probably wander out to my garden to see what's popped up in the last week.

Have a good day all!

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
Just got back from the Valley Forge Revolutionary 5 mile race and have to go get ready for an afternoon track meet but I wanted to post quick results from race. Nice weather - for a change - big turnout and very pleased with my effort - I came in under 36 minutes (35:55 per Garmin - my second fastest 5 miler ever) when my goal was under 37 minutes on this very hilly course. Will post RR later.

Good day and great running,

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
I slept in later than PDR -- I got up at 6:15

What a beautiful day to run, although I must admit it's easier for me to run in the cooler weather. It started out perfect at around 40F but was about 70F by the finish.

Let's see -- PDR will be gardening today so I suppose I should take a really nice nap to stay out of the way.

15.2 miles 2:05 (8:11/mi)

Go racers!

Hello!

WRFB - very selfless of you!
Tammy - hope the ankle feels better soon!

Rest day for me today, but did my duty this morning at DD's Pony Club hunter trials. Was hoping for an easy fence to judge but ended up with the water jump! No-one actually fell in but plenty refused, & there were a few falls in front of the jump, but no major injuries. **huge relief!**

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
Woke up at 7 and let the dogs out. A bit muggy but the sun was coming up..a great day for DD and my last long run before the HM next Saturday. She was coming over at 9.

Went back to bed, told DH to make sure I was up at 8. He has one of those incredibly accurate internal clocks. Dozed back off. Woke up at 8, got dressed and then listened to it thunder.

It is now 10 am and still raining hard. DD opted for 6 on the TM. I opted to bake oatmeal raisin cookies.

I guess I will alter the schedule and run tomorrow.

Really wishing mother nature had gotten her act together and started in earlier. I could have slept til forever this morning.

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
Roch runner...I ahve done that drive plus a few more. DH and I frequently would drive from Charlottesville, VA to Traverse City, MI when we were younger. The problem with that drive is it is to long for one day but you feel silly stopping at a hotel and then getting up to drive 3 or 4 hours the next day.

Perch:
Your workouts impress me. You will come back so strong,

Rest day for me today, I'll probably hit the gym for an easy workout a little later. Yesterday was a 12 mile trail run (1800 foot climb) I have to figure out if I like these trail running shoes before the PCT 50K this summer. I also am in the middle of my post Boston/pre Reno recovery/taperŪ for the Reno marathon in two weeks.

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
Another gorgeous, gorgeous day here. Cloudless sunshine, sounds of spring peepers and first scents of freshly-mown grass. How wonderful to be able to go out and enjoy a run in weather like this.

Tammy, I read too fast and thought that you and DS were going to catch a manatee. If you do, give it a kiss from ThunderBolter.

Tomwhite, between you and me we average one normal churchgoer. Thanks for picking up my slack.

10 miles at 7:57 pace, on a route that included most of the Burns Park 5k loop. Looking forward to that race in 2 weeks, PF or no. dg9, are you running or volunteering?

Go Econo the Triathlete!

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
What a contrast. Last Sunday I ran in the Park in the nor' easter and saw about 10 other drowning runners.

Today its hot and sunny and there were thousands, and thousands, of runners, cyclists, skateboarders, dog-walkers and tourists. I think I prefer the rain.

Earlier I scratched from a 5K at JFK airport as I'm still not fully recovered from last weekend.

I sort of ended up in the middle of a 4 mile race, which I just happened to be entered for and, as I happenend to be wearing my ChampionChip, it counts towards NYC Marathon 2008 qualification.

7 miles at 9:20 pace. Longest run for a while.

Good runs everyone!

Just happened to be wearing your chip eh BAP?
They run a 5K at JFK? Eww, talk about flat and out in the open.

68, not a cloud and barely any wind here, 4 miles on boardwalk and neighborhood. Weight training later, may get the bike out and look for my first Geocache.

Enjoy Earthday everyone, this is just a teaser.

Re: Sunday, April 22 Boomer Runs
Gorgeous weekend here...74 and sunny. Active rest yesterday...I walked an hour on the towpath while MrF borrowed my Garmin for his 8 in 58:50. Today we started at the track together then I split off to finish my 18 miler in 2:47:02 for a 9:16 pace. I am happy to finish my first ever 50 mile week and two long runs both at a pace that would please me for a marathon. (How long should a MP training run be???) Today was harder than Wednesday's 15! It's warmer and I didn't swing by the house often enough for liquid. Today's run was with about 15 oz. of Powerade. My AHR was the same as Wednesday but it was creeping up near the end of my run and the max was higher than Wednesday. I'm jumping in an ice bath now then going to relax on the garden swing with some tea. Happy Earth Day!
