A closet full of shoes

That's what I looked at the other day when my D.W said she wanted me to take her shopping for shoes.
Since our daughter's first communion was coming up on Saturday, I just naturally assumed my D.W needed shoes to go with her new dress. Looking again at the closet full of what looked like perfectly good shoes to me, I said won't any of those work? She looked at me with a your so stupid look and said "for running?" A HA !! now I understood So off we went to the running store and bought some shoes and running bras.
( she insisted on the running bras I told her she would look sexier running in just a T shirt but all I got was a dirty look) So we are off to run today I read up on the C25k program. I think I will start her off on that.
Wish her luck!!
Oogly

oogly,
Best wishes to DW on starting her running. You dirty old man. I get the same dirty looks from the gracious and lovely Mrs C.C.runner.

Yeah! Now you can post the runs of Oogly and Mrs Oogly just like Roy and Mrs Roy.... but maybe your wife will want a handle of her own. Mrs Oogly just doesn't quite have that "ring" to it.

Re: A closet full of shoes
Oogly...Have youconsidered building an extra closet to hold all of the soon to be purchased running shoes?

I have such a hard time throwing out running shoes, even after they have gone from trainers to everyday errand shoes then off to the garden shoes and finally serious mud shoes.

Right now, I am looking fondly at my HM shoes that I had to cut the toe out of the morning of the race to accomodate a broen pinky toe. How can I throw them away??? (sigh)

An eye roll is not nearly as bad as a flat out no. You still have hope!

Oogly, never begrudge a woman her shoes. And "Mrs. Oogly" has that sentimental ring to it. (I do recall, however, that "Mrs. Hippo" doesn't really care for her moniker.)

I think it's neat that she's starting... Happy times for the Oogly family.

Re: A closet full of shoes
Oogly that is awesome that you have the DW out there running, so very very cool. I agree with everyone else, it would be great to see Mrs Oogly posting as well!

Give her our best wishes and congrats on picking up her new hobby. Hopefully she already knows how supportive the posters are here at Cool Running, especially the Boomers!

Hmmm all this banter has given me an idea...if I were to tell my DW that female runners carried purses and she could get a new one is she took up running I might just be able to get her to pick up the sport...a man can dream can't he?

Jemamma - DH has been going into work at 6am the last few days instead of 7am, so there hasn't been time in the mornings. We are waiting until he resumes his normal schedule, I think on Wednesday, to start up again.

(Sorry for the hijack, UMWB)

Re: A closet full of shoes
just to keep it a consolidated hijack.... Holly, I'm really glad. I was wondering.

back to oogly. that's great! very best of luck (& a welcome to the nuthouse) to mrs. oogly. (i like how that sounds too) glad the first time went well.

forgive my feeble memory (e.g., I can't even remember when 30 sounded old
) but wasn't it you that a few months back got up & in a fit of loving family zeal got just about everyone out there one day? even maybe, a nephew? 3rd cousin? I can't seem to remember how dw (ms. o) felt about it at the time. but maybe this is in some part an extention of how nicely that went. if, of course, it was you.

keep up the reports. & the shoe museum. I wonder if they'd make good sound insulation for critically placed rooms?
