Re: American River 50 Mile RR
I really enjoyed this post. I will be running a 100 miler in Ohio in August and you captured what I hope to do...."just run in the moment". Thanks! I will keep this post tucked away and re-read over the Summer.

Mike,

You are one, tough hombre. Quite an accomplishment.

But why am I reminded of the Black Knight from Monty Python? "'Tis merely a flesh wound." "What are you going to do, bleed on me?"

Way to go, ultra-nighthawk.

Well done, Mike! You make all us Boomers proud! What a great RR too! Sounds like a punishing course. I can't imagine how you ran through that calf muscle tear.

Re: American River 50 Mile RR
Very well done indeed Mike, I am in absolute awe of your ability or was it stubborness? Whatever it doesn't lessen all that you have accomplished. I thoroughly enjoyed your race report and could really envision your journey, you really are one heck of a tough runner.

Now get that calf healed and get on with Western States we all know you want to, heck you deserve to!

Re: American River 50 Mile RR
Mike, I can understand your not wanting to externalize this, but thanks for putting in all the effort to do so & for posting this amazing accomplishment & experience.

this
quote:
I was running in the moment and wanted to keep it that way. Rain; mud; poison oak; it didn?t matter. All that mattered that day was the exhilarating feeling I had; mile after mile, hour after hour.

puts into words what I want from running. (poison oak optional.)

Your report is incredibly motivating.

I hope you are healed by now.

thanks again.

Re: American River 50 Mile RR
Nighthawk,

I am simply in awe. WOW. That is quite the race and you are amazing to have raced the way you did. To even attempt this race shows your determination. So happy on your time and I could just feel your emotions.

D'ont you hate loosing toenails. I lose one every marathon (2 for 2). Yep I am a newbie.

Congratulations...way to go
