Tue Apr 24 Boomer Runs

Wasn't it almost too cold to run only a week ago? Well, the contrast is amazing as today was 72F when I went out. It cooled off a bit to 70 by now, but it's certainly warm here in the mid-Atlantic.

5.2 miles with 6 100m striders thrown in. 42:17 (8:08/mi)

Have a great day today!

You know how some days it just all comes together and you run really fast and hardly even notice the effort?

Well, that wasn't one of those days.

Slogged through 7 hot hilly windy miles in 1:17:35. Attempted 4 miles at tempo pace, but only managed a pace of 9:06 for those miles.

Still - the warm weather (70F this morning) is nice and it's great to run in my Marika running skirt and my new "Will Run For Beer" singlet from One More Mile. I'm tired of tights and gloves and headbands.

It sounds like the Beers have my weather finally going for them now. 6 miles at an easy 9:35 min/mile pace. Nothing special, but the calf muscles are basically back to normal. This run put me over 500 miles for the year - about the same as this time last year.

Good Morning!

Since the elliptical is down at home, I joined the "Y"
Worked out really well actually. Did 25 min elliptical at about a GA pace then 25 min deep water running with 20 at tempo. Man, does that work the legs! WOW! It feels like running across the finish line in one of those slow motion replays. Pretty cool. It felt great to be running with the hip rotations and all (something you just don't get spinning or elliptical). Why was I sweating IN THE POOL? Do HR monitors work in the water? (Don't worry, I'm not going to use the Garmin).
Was just me and the lifeguard at 6 am... sweet!

Have Great runs!

YES! I had one of those good runs this morning PDR! Went to bed with the thoughts of a 5 mile run on my mind, then started waivering - maybe I should only run 3.5, or 4, or 3, but it felt good and everything was coming together. Brinkley and I averaged a 9:50 pace to boot!

Another highlight of the morning was seeing the sunrise for the first time this spring. I came out of the wooded bike path, turned east towards home and there it was. It is going to be a good day.

5.65m in 48:42 with the usual Tuesday morning crowd: Iron Boy, the Andy-man, The Diesel, and the M-Dawg. An unseasonably warm but lovely 62F.

When The Diesel turned off at 4 to do hills, the pace picked up a bit. That left the poor M-Dawg dragging a bit for the last half mile or so. She's gotta get used to the heat too. We all made it home though - and she's resumed her job as a rug anchor.

Happy runs all - enjoy the good weather!

Good Morning Boomers!

Good runs and weather abound this morning.

Breger ? glad your calves are feeling better.

Perch ? nice deep water running! I have not tried that, but I will this summer when I take the kids to the pool. (Yes, DH, I DO have to turn everything into exercise?)

Maybe it was the brand new running skirt I was wearing. Instant review: Nike skort, shorts liner. <HR>

MustangSally ? I have this skirt! I wore it for my marathon. The shorts do creep a bit and bunch under my butt, but they don?t chafe.

3.6 miles outside in 57 degrees, followed by these on the treadmill:

(2 min 5KRP/1 min recovery) x 6
1 minute walk
(1 min 30 seconds faster than 5KRP/1 min recovery) x 5
plus cool down jog

Total distance: 8.3 miles

Went to the hairdresser?s last night to have a few highlights put in my dark brown hair (in an attempt to hide the incoming gray), and walked out BLONDE. It startles me every time I walk by the bathroom mirror.

I don?t know if I like it, but I think I may be having more fun.

Hello, everyone!

PDR - Ouch! Sorry for the bad day!
Hopeful, sunrise run sounds wonderful!

Started the OHR today! Did W1D1 - 30 mins running! This fits in really well as I was planning on consolidating before increasing my distance and the first 3 weeks of this programme are just that - 3 runs of 30 minutes each week. After running for 36 minutes on Saturday this seemed very doable! Did another 15 minutes on the cross-trainer afterwards. Don't think I'll do that again! Lol!

Hope you all have a good run/workout!

Morning all. Sounds like warm runs all around. 62F as I left and 67 at the end. 3.3 in 28 minutes this morning. Surprised myself at the time, as the first mile felt anti-sproinky, but when I loosen up a little, I made an an effort to lengthen my stride a little and everything seemed to flow a lot better. Last half was even shirtless--a year ago, I wouldn't have dared, but there's a lot less to jiggle these days. Breeze sure feels nice.

Holly--I'll second request for pictures.

Yesterday morning it was 66° and this morning it was 36°. So I had to dig out my running gloves and put on the long sleeves before I headed out for a 4 mile run.

It looks like the mornings are going to be like this the rest of the week, so I better get used to it.
