Any Big Sur veterans here?

It's a long shot, I know, but I am hoping to catch the eye of an occasional poster whose signature is "Big Sur Grizzled Vet." If anyone else has run Big Sur, I'd be happy to hear from them too. At a minimum, I am seeking perspective/stories/advice from someone who has survived Hurricane Point. I guess I'm feeling a little lonely looking at all the Boomers running in Eugene.

Big Sur was one of my most enjoyable 'thons. I loved the music, the scenery, and the feeling that I was not going to get a PR. I just took it mile by mile and even stopped for a moment to snap a photo for a couple of runners. Think of it as a long fun run. Of course, the year I ran it the weather was ideal-if it rains, that's not as enjoyable. Good luck and make the best of it.

Re: Any Big Sur veterans here?
I am here.....
I always tell people to start the race SLOW, because it is downhill and easy to crank it up too fast to quick, which will have you pretty spent by mile 18/19.
After mile 5 I will start to pick up a little time and try to get a slightly ahead of my designated pace, that I know I will lose on the climb up Hurricane.
Climbing Hurricane, I really take my time. While not all that steep, it seems to go on forever.
If I am in the under 4:30 finish I run all the way up, if I am over that estimated time, I walk/jog it.
After Hurricane you have a nice long downhill, this is where I begin to get back the time I lost at Hurricane, making up 2-4 seconds a mile until I get to the pace I want. I crank along pretty much .maintaining my pace into the Highlands(Mile 23). The road into the Highlands has a horrible bank to it, so stick as close to the inside shoulder as you can get.. Out of the Highlands you are almost there.
Point Lobos is my major landmark.... Mile 24 and flat, with one final hill to climb at 25....
Respect the hills but don't fear them.....
This year the weather appears to be absolutely perfect, so several Grizzled Vets are going to cruise along at a 5:15 mode and enjoy our time out on the course.....
Let me know if you need anything more.
I wil be in the Information booth around noonish... until 1 ish and I won't be the one in a Blue Blazer.....

Sitting somewhere is difficult at best. The start area gets pretty crowded.......
