Re: Thu May 10 Boomer Runs
hey la t: weeks like that keep a smile on my face too.

hey daveinaa: workouts like that get a determined wrinkled brow on my face. you'll get there. come back soon.

err, i ripped one by mistake at lunch today. i was going to take it easy, but i felt good, 3 miles with a 8:15, 7:30, 6:45 sort of sequence, including a couple of red lights. saw a heart rate of 171 on that last mile... haven't been that high since last october. just felt like running fast for some reason... i hate it when that happens oh, temp=93f.

edited to add: doh! this was my first run listening to solarmix8. duh, that explains the extra intensity. please use that mix with caution...

Two weeks before the Detroit marathon last fall I did this workout with 2-minute rests, and averaged 5:57 for the miles, at a lower average HR. This is where 2.5 months of fighting injuries gets you. Sigh. My running is stuck in neutral or reverse, with no immediate prospects for improvement.

I am going to take an Econo-inspired sabbatical from CR to focus on work and on reformulating my running goals. Best of luck to those of you with big upcoming races--you know that I am pulling for you. I'll be back sometime.

Dave,

Don't feel so bad. I still can't do that workout at those times, and I am currently running the best I have in years! We are the same age and ran approx the same times back in our prime. Seeing you come back after several years has been one of my main motivators in my own comeback since I found CR 1 1/2 years ago.
I am sure this is only a bump in the road. Refresh, recharge, and you'll be back stronger than ever.

And all this from a Spartan!

Good luck and I am sure we will see you back here in no time.

Jeff

Hi everyone,
first of all, welcome to all the new (to me) members lisas and tww9094 (I'll just call you tw, I can't 'member al those #'s).
Marie, take care of that hipjoint. I'm glad you made it to the doc.
Dave, we'll miss you, too. Don't go away too far, and peek in every once in a while...
Hee, mc, I can't wait to run to Solarmix8 if that's what it makes you do ...
This is turning out a non-running week, which is perfectly OK as I'm still on the path of recovery, both injury and flu-wise. I went to my massage therapist today, who, after examining my IT bands exclaimed that he could play a nice tune on them as they are as tight as a guitar string. So he got down to loosen them up, especially the left side and discovered several adhesions that need to be worked on in the next couple of weeks. Yowza, it was not a pleasant process! I will also see him in the gym (he is also my trainer) to strengthen up the knee stabilizing muscles. I'll hit the road next week, I hope .
Have a good day, everyone,
j

Sorry to hear you've hit a patch, Dave. You'll come up with a plan. You sure did sound happy after that trail race. Just sayin'.

There are far too many people in Boomerdom working far too hard. When I'm dictator, I'm cutting your work hours. Think I'll ban HR monitors and watches to encourage more carefree running while I'm at it. And a PT and massage therapist for every runner. Oh, and Dark Horse ... you're in charge of dismantling the military. The world will follow suit as we finally come to realize the senselessness of killing one another.

Re: Thu May 10 Boomer Runs
la T, . was thinking myself this morning, this running is good stuff.

MKSally, .. "DS pats me on my head: "Oh, Mum: that's too much responsibility for you to take on..."". In many ways he reminds me of DD. hold on to your hat.
happy that you had MH? miles.

Erika, amazing fast progress for DS2.

egret, the lil' darlings are outside... will take more photos when I get a minute.

jura, I'm glad you're getting better. (again :-) )

Dave, I'm sorry to hear that but understand very well. Not the running nuances, but the need to focus internally. I'm sorry you haven't been happy with your running. Being at your level is something I can't even imagine. Thanks for your encouragement & your advice. I'm using it.
Do come back sometime. I've intended to ply you with physics questions. That you wouldn't want to miss.
great race, btw. I replied to your RR but quite late. enjoy your summer.

your souciness... just practicing. and now I'm stuck. I'll just take a nap.
back to reality. -)

Re: Thu May 10 Boomer Runs
ran 3am this morning this my last run until 25k Sat in GR 5.25 miles 43:41 only got lost on coarse once sciatic nerve has flaired up again, but as long as stretch real good it does not effect my running much. Looking for 2:15 25k on Sat this seems do-able
run long and well Marathon DErrick

Dictatoress SS, you have my vote! I've fretted all day about how fast, OR NOT fast, will I run during a 5K this weekend. I haven't run a 5K since last Mother's Day . . . Carefree running - huh? Your vision sounds like a dream and I'm not sure dreams (happy ones) and dictators go together. But maybe with a dictatoress . . . . There's hope!
