Whew! Larry's come to his senses. Thank goodness.

P.S. You know I was joking about being "hurt," right?

Peter, you're going to need a bigger pool ;-)
Lots of good runs boomers.
I ran only 3.6 at 7:45 after the long run yesterday. Rest day tomorrow.

dlclard66, actually, I'm in the process of selling it.
I paid about $50 for the board more than 30 years ago but apparently it's worth a lot more than that today[/URL" target="_blank">. A lot of the 10 footers are selling for $1,000 and up.

Re: Monday May 14th run
Hey cj.......is it true that Fed Ex and UPS are thinking of merging?.....to be known as FED UP?

Larry.....actually I think your experience of going back to build a solid base will be a GREAT addition to this forum. CJ has already said that Spareribs has suggested it for her and I know a lot of us regular learning runners are trying to do that base building.

I do know that when you make a move in your running experience that you feel is going backwards, you hesitate to post in here. However, EVERY running experience is valuable to someone else. Yesterday's walker is today's runner and will become tomorrow's racer through the experiences of others. How many times does someone post a question about an injury or something that they think is new only to find that 4 or 5 others have gone through the same thing. Solomon said....."There is nothing new under the sun ........and to everything a season.......a time to break down.....a time to build up"

1.25 miles today on an off day.

Re: Monday May 14th run
I certainly am glad Larry came to his senses.
My cooking fiasco, friends asked me to make gravy for their turkey.... I reached for a canister of flour and kept trying to brown it in the fat and it just wouldn't brown. I had used confectioners sugar instead
Anyway I think we opened a jar of gravy and poured the remaining juices that gathered on the serving dish into it. It wasn't Thanksgiving or anything and there was no stuffing and we laughed over it for a long time.

2.5 miles followed by 15 mins on the bike. Also walked to and from trains about 2 miles briskly so I am counting it.

Re: Monday May 14th run
Today was beatiful here with warm spring temps and bright sun. Yesterday (as it always is on Mother's Day) is Lilac Day at the local arboretum. Since we were away for the weekend we felt we would have to get there early this week. Marj was up in N.H. seeing her granddaughter this morning (a weekly trip) so I ran 9.5 easy miles and took in the beautiful lilacs (even stopped to snap a few photos on my cell). Got home, had lunch, Marj returned, we did a little grocery shopping, rested a bit and decided to cycle to the arboretum so that she could enjoy the lilacs also. Did a 12 mile bike trip.
So, it's been a long but very pleasurable day. Time to kick back tonight.

Re: Monday May 14th run
Bill, that's really nice about DS. You must have set a good example. Are you teaching him to cook?

how's your foot, Roch?

glad your ankle let you run GrayDave.

millbot, thanks for telling me about the updated 'pain' book, I didn't know about it. I'd already ordered the original used, on amazon, I tried to cancel it today but don't know yet if they'll do it. Since the new version was based on new research, instead of just shinier, I'd rather have that, but either way it should be good.

speaking of pain, my foot's getting better, but still iffy. I'm trying to decide whether to run tomorrow. the toe is a little red & swollen, & the distal lateral anterior quadrant of my foot (I wonder if that's right?) is discolored & a little swollen. But it isn't awful. & running Sunday didn't seem to bother it a lot, I was so careful. It's almost harder walking through the day, thinking about other things.

Does doing some of the harder cross-training things at night before a run the next day count as the day before & technically not bother your run? or is it counterproductive?

choover, what a great picture! & opportunity. glad your DH survived his 10.

hi Henrun :-)

Larry, you encourage me to post even more of the gory details about my runs. I really can use all the help I can get.

Markguy... nice to know you were out there too. I saw what I'd thought was a baltimore oriole but when I thought about it, it was a red-winged blackbird. What an awful Odyssey you had. & how frustrating. & endless. I hope it was a good beer. I came close to something slightly similar sunday.. I usually just run from home, so at the trail I separated the keys & put the car keys in my purse & the house keys in my pocket. Stopped just short of locking the car. A bit early to have disturbed the neighbors.

yay egret!!

Erika, happy planting.

I'm a little frightened of solarmix9.

Re: Monday May 14th run
Hello All! Sounds like you've pulled Larry back into the fold. Good. I barely know you Larry but you sound like a greta (did I do that right?) guy! To continue my post-on-the-wrong day routine: 4 miles really slow with my running partner and son. Left after 7pm and it was just beginning to feel warm out there. Spent the morning and early afternoon handing out medals at the Inaugural Tacoma City Marathon. Big fun!! Today's a no-run day for me. Awful day at work so maybe I'll just eat and sleep.

Re: Monday May 14th run
Roch, glad to hear the pie worked out. I have to get my rhubarb cooked up in the next few days.

Just 10.5 bread-n-butter km in about an hour this evening. I am still Sans Sproinky.

Would I be shot down as a poser if I said I'm hitting some sort of Half-driven taper madness? Everything hurts. I'm insane to have entered this race. I especially never should have spoken publicly about the stretch goal. I'm going to humiliate myself, and Coach is gonna fire me. PUT THAT CAKE DOWN, D@MMIT! Put it.. put it.. put it... in my mouth. Oh, and my shins are gonna blow up, and an Orca will jump out of the strait and eat me, which might be a mercy before I have to run over that godforsaken golf course again...

...did I mention my left eyebrow? I think it has overuse injuries, and I'm sure it's gonna cost me at least 10 seconds/km.

Waaaaaaaaa!

Re: Monday May 14th run
Hey Larry,
thank goodness you're back in the fold! I just read all about it so I had nothing to do with it, but I am very glad that the others convinced you to stay. The board just wouldn't be the same without you. So many times when I don't have time to read I just scroll down on the pages of the daily to see if there is a pic from you!
I will go for a quick 1-2mile joglet to air out my head soon. We had an interesting day at the office, as we were broken into over the weekend. They only took some loose cash (our coffee money ), but the biggest concern was that the alarm didn't go off. Over the course of the day we had a police officer, finger print technician, window repair guy and the technician from the alarm company come and do their work. Meanwhile treatment was going on in 3 chairs. A bit hectic, I should say, but we got through it.
