Friday, May 18/07

Welcome to Friday

Of course this means many are anticipating races over the weekend. We will be looking for the RR's.

Others may be firing up the barbeques...enjoying the family.....doing yard work.......BUT RUNNING.

Have a great day friends. I expect we soon will hear from our early runners who are finishing up good runs as I keypunch this.

Here we are!

7.0 miles at MP today. Trying to get the pace imprinted in my legs. Actually - it was just a smidge too fast - 9:08 per mile.

Big doings this weekend in the Beer family. dawndaughter2 graduates from Gettysburg College on Sunday. dawndaughter1 is flying in from Boston tonight and we're heading up to Gettysburg tomorrow morning. We need to fit in a few wedding chores and errands too while she's here.

Good thing I'm well rested going into the weekend. Oops - I messed up that part.

Best of luck to our racers!

Re: Friday, May 18/07
Good morning, everyone.

There's stuff going on this weekend? I guess I wasn't paying attention.

Easy 5 miler with 6x100m striders thrown in. No run planned tomorrow -- I guess it's a good thing as it seems like there's a lot to do. I have to keg my latest batch of beer (english pale ale) before we run up to Gettysburg.

5.1 miles 40:35 (7:59/mi).

Great day, all!

Morning Boomers

Nice runs for the Beers before a hectic weekend and a quick 2 for runwun. I had a nice MAF run this morning after yesterdays toughie hill work. Thanks to Debbie's links (thanks debbie) I was reading I can run at normal MAF +5 if you have neen running 5 days a week over a year, which basically I have, means my new MAF is 136, great.
Anyway, 5m 1:02:43 @ 12:32 pace AHR 135 63%

Re: Friday, May 18/07
If you need some help getting that English Pale Ale kegged Lou, let me know. I know you have a lot of other stuff to do.

The strangest thing happened as I was leaving work last night. I started down the stairs and at about the 4th step, all of a sudden my leg cramped up or something. I had to stop for a second or two. The rest of the evening it felt like my calf muscle was pulled or torn and I wa hobbling around.

So as a precaution, I ran very easy this morning. 5 recovery paced miles in 48 minutes. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. That was weird ...

I'll put a few miles in after work. I've been hearing tales of "The Reverse Taper". What is this runners speak of? Is it a old wives tale? Or is there a hint of truth in it?

Re: Friday, May 18/07
Mornin' all. Rest day for me before tomorrow's 5K. Looks like it's going to be a very wet one. I was hoping for a PR, but I'm always hesitant when there's lots of puddles around...you never know which one is hiding an ankle-biting pothole. Que sera, sera.

Thanks for starting us off vista. Sounds like the Beer/Runners have a busy, fun weekend ahead...hope the graduation is indoors. runwun puts in 2 miles in the time it takes me to yawn and stretch. Man he's fast. Congrats Roy on getting the go-ahead to go ahead faster. That was weird, Bill. I hope nothing comes of it.

Have a Happy Friday all!

Steve

Good Morning Boomers!

Vista ? you start our day out with such joy ? thank you!

PDR ? what a lovely weekend with family ahead for you! Congrats to DD2 on her graduation.

{{{Breger?s calf}}}

Mary ? when are you taking it out for a test-run?

No running for me today. X-training with weights instead: front raises, incline dumbbell presses, dumbbell curls, lunges, 1-legged squats, weighted duck squats, reverse flies, varied abwork.

Good luck to the racers this weekend!

ETA - TomS - that rhubarb crunch is FABULOUS! Not to mention easy - took me about 5 minutes to prepare it and pop it in the oven. And that crunch topping will be great to use over other fruits, too. My husband is already asking me to try it over apples. Thanks!

Re: Friday, May 18/07
Here's hoping for a greta family weekend for the Beers (and of course for all my other Boomer friends)!

Just a short warmup run this (frosty!) morning, in anticipation of a long run tomorrow. 2.2 in 21:21, which has a nice symmetry to it.

Mary: Maybe the Michigan Boomers can use your 5th-wheel rig as a traveling headquarters for races around the state. Could you have it at the Dexter-AA event on June 3? We could use a place to crash the night before the run.

Re: Friday, May 18/07
Holly - we took it for a "spin" last night, about 60 minutes round trip to show it to my Father-in-Law and get a feel for how it pulls. It pulls wonderfully. Our first camping trip is June 1 - too late to get into a park for Memorial Day. But, like DH says, we can camp right in our driveway.

Roch - love to help you out with sleeping accomodations, but we carefully choose one that only sleeps 4. Of course if ya'll want to chip in and pay for fuel, we might be able to make some arrangement!

Roy - this is what we bought: http://www.sunnybrookrv.com/brookside/main.php[/URL" target="_blank"> More trailer than we planned on - but we'll have it forever.
