Re: Monday, May 21/07 Run
Susan, nice to have you back.

Derrick, I hope you feel better soon.

Larry, you are a radical.

munch, I always smile reading about you pushing the strolller.
.. glad to hear days off helped!

I have to take a few days off, I think... had x-rays this morning, & the baby toe is broken, but could be a lot worse. She said at least a week w/out running, or walking barefoot! She also said it probably would have healed by now if I hadn't run on it. So. . I don't know if I can do any of the alternatives.. especially just for a week. Any gym memberships I've found are more than I'm willing to pay for for that length of time. But if it's just for a week, I have no real reason to complain.
Anyway, thanks so much for the help & the encouragement to get it checked out!

Tammy, I'm glad you're back. I hope it was nice. How did DS enjoy it?

tall, I hope the best for you. You've been working so hard. I hope you can be at peace with that. That sounds stupid from someone that's never raced. But I don't know what else you could've done. good luck!

perch, .

Re: Monday, May 21/07 Run
Had a good run with Dove this morning, about 5.25 miles or a little less. We were very stiff and jerky at the beginning but it got better. This afternoon I had a wonderful stroll through the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, 5.5 miles. www.fws.gov/nisqually[/URL" target="_blank">

Re: Monday, May 21/07 Run
Hi Boomers, our dog chips ran out in front of a car this morning, nieghbors called. Went out and brought him home. Guess I will put him in the ground in a while. Kay isn't handeling it very well. He wasn't very car smart and I figured he would run out into the highway someday and get run over. One of those rainy days where you know something is going to go wrong. Larry

{{{Larry and Kay}}} sorry to hear the sad news. Those poor animals just don't understand the whole idea of cars and roads being so dangerous.

Re: Monday, May 21/07 Run
Nice pics Roy, thanks and congrats on doing it yourself
Larry, sorry about Chips Hugs to you and Kay.

WB Susan and Tammy, nice 14 TMWIP on a Monday.
Meg, when I was a kid I went in the water too if we went to the beach, didn't matter the temperature. Now...........maybe July.

40 min run on the boardwalk, not sproinky but better then I've done last few. Plus walking to and from trains.....I guess after a month you'd stop counting that as exercise but I am only doing it 3 more days.

Re: Monday, May 21/07 Run
Condolences to Steve, and to Larry and Elaine over the losses of their 4-legged friends as well. Sad times.

I rode for a total of 31 miles today - 23 on the ride to work and back, and 8 at lunchtime. The wind was pretty much in my face, as I expected it would be, on the way home, but it was not head-on. Not quite riding as fast as I was 2 years ago, but not sure why. And today should have been a particularly slow ride home, considering I'm in "recovery mode" after last Thursday's race, so I really didn't push it; and yet it was one of my fastest rides home so far this year. Once Saturday's 15k and the following Saturday's 1/2 are over, I hope to have one or two "fast" commutes every week, and 3 or 4 easy commutes. A lot depends on the weather.

Once my running is pretty much over for the summer, I probably won't post my rides here too much; but I thought you might like to see how my distance performances are effected this month, since I'm training for them almost exclusively by riding right now. I'll pick up with the running in August and racing in September - the fall is 5k season for me.

Re: Monday, May 21/07 Run
Perch is running again and Holly is thinking long runs!!!! It seems as though there is finally a peaceful balance in the world.

Welcome back Tammy. Now we need Dark Horse.

We have chance of thunder showers Saturday Derrick. However, if I did as well as a weather forcaster, I'd be in trouble.

Sorry Larry. We hope you and Kay find healing soon.

I started having "first marathon" dreams. If there's a division for guys wearing steel toed boots and underware, I'm in. 5.2 miles tonight. 47:16.

Re: Monday, May 21/07 Run
So sorry to hear that Larry. It is hard to have them gone.

Seems like it is bad luck all around for boomer animals here lately.

dg9...I broke my baby toe the week before a half marathon last year. I ran it just fine after I cut the toe area out of the top of my running shoes. It got support on the bottom and no pressure on the top.
