Re: Fri May 25th Boomer Runs
Skip - Thanks. Yeah, 90 minutes give or take does sound familiar, so I think I'm good. I guess I won't know whether I'm carbo lading tonight until I walk in the door (DW does the cooking). My typical mid-morning fruit snack is a banana, and like a thermos knows whether to keep the fluids inside it cold or hot (how does it know?), a banana also seems to know what it needs to do. But now a cup of yogurt...hmmm, that sounds good too.

Mary - My wife always tells me I need to smile more. I think I usually have the face of someone who just had their wallet stolen. Too darn serious. And smiling is supposed to make you happier, while frowning makes you feel worse, even if you're not aware that you're doing it.

kameele - The second to last thing that went through this bee's mind was "Hey Look - It's Donny Osmond!"

Re: Fri May 25th Boomer Runs
First I went on a three mile walk , then it didn't feel like enough so I went for a run. Made it two miles and had an urgent need to return home to attend to mother nature. I hate it when she makes those long distance calls. Now I am feeling rather awful. My head hurts so I think I need some gardening therapy and a hugh glass of iced tea.

Any thoughts? I anticipate finishing the 15k in between 1:14:00 and 1:16:00. Does that call for carbo loading the night before? Race time is 12:00 Noon, and I'll be up by 6:30, cooking up a cup of oatmeal. I'm assuming that, along with some mid-morning fruit, will provide all the carbs I need for a ~ 9 mile race.<HR>

BTY, are you seriously looking for permission to eat pasta? Mmmm. Pasta. And garlic bread. Mmmm. And beer. Aaaah. Maybe I'll go make some spaghetti tonight and carbo-load for you.

Physio today did painful ART things to my posterior tibialis, and sent me out with instructions to run gently and see how she goes. So I'm thinking I'll go out with the slow group at Thetis tomorrow and trundle around midpack. Should be fun.

My coffee adventures continue. Now that I'm brewing espresso at home, my excursions to real coffee joints have changed. I go in and pay for a latte, but I'm really buying a lesson. See me crane my neck around the machine to observe CoffeeBoy's steaming technique. I was starting to think I was getting pretty good: my lattes are every bit as yummy as Starbucks'. But no: today, my latte was made by a master at a micro-roastery in a little hole in the wall, and I have a lot, lot, lot to learn. His coffee is sublime.

It's nice to have goals to reach for, whether they be life, running, or a drug-delivery system.

(ETA: I really miss Sans Souci.)

I was thinking of SS earlier today also and wondering why I haven't seen any posts from her since I got back. Did she just go incognito or did she post she was taking a break or something? I have gardening talk and she's not here to chat with me!

Feel free . I'm afraid I'm a bit of a pain in my wife's neck when it comes to pasta. I can only eat marinara about once a week (I've already met that) since I discovered I have a sensitivity to it (remember the migraine and non-stop TMIcensored[/TMI] about 18 months ago? 'Twas the tomatos what done it.) She'll make an Alfredo sauce for me if we're all eating spaghetti, but I hate to ask her to make it if she isn't planning on it already. Now, beer on the other hand...

Thanks - that helps. You're doing VCM as a two-person relay? First or second leg?
