Re: Marin 10K RR....getting closer...
Great race Jim...16 seconds...sooooo close. I'm sure that you will get there soon. Just keep on knocking at the door and it will open eventually!

You just gotta know it's right around the corner after this race, I know that freaking feeling of being so close you fan almost touch it.

40:15 is still a very respectable time indeed as you well know.

Wow Jim, that's one heck of a high Age Grade! So close to your goal and such improvement. You must be excited to do it again. You'll be sure to get it since you're so close. How inspiring! Congratulations! Your training is really working!

Jim,

Oh sooo close! Congrats on the great race. I'm sure this should give you the confidence to break 40 on your next attempt.

Re: Marin 10K RR....getting closer...
Jim-
Great job getting back on track! Excellent effort and a fine time. Your training is solid and I believe in my heart that you will get 39:xx in the fall if you stay consistent and uninjured throughout the summer.

You are right that the race is most difficult in the final third. That's where you need confidence that your training is solid and must push through the pain and believe that you can still hold on to that pace that continues to get more difficult.

This time must be a big boost for you. I'm sure you will have renewed vigor for that sub40 attempt later in the year.

Congratulations!

Jim,

Very nice time! We are all quite impressed.

16 seconds is a lot, but we are talking about less than 3 secs/ mile now, so you are really getting close. We are all pulling for you.

Re: Marin 10K RR....getting closer...
You are amazing.

I sure hope you are able to trim those 3 seconds/mile that HuskeyDon suggests. I am looking forward to reading about that 10K.

In the meantime, stay healthy and thanks for inspiring us.

Wow, Jim, you are fast under anyone's standards, let alone someone in my age group. Keep up the good work.

Jim - sounds like a good run, and I'm sure 40 minutes will fall.

Your training seems to be paying off... good luck with it.
