Cross Training

What's your favorite cross training activity? I usually do sets of sprints, push ups, and sit ups, but it's getting to be a little boring. Also, I don't think it's really an efficient workout either.

Re: Cross Training
Hey Wilco - welcome to the new community :)

My favorite cross training activity would have to be cycling. I also look forward to my weekly soccer games, although it's a little harder on the knees on the FieldTurf.

If you can, maybe mix in some sprints on the sand. My softball coach used to take us to Loyola beach at the end of practice in the fall and just drill us. It definitely gives your workout a little something extra.

Re: Cross Training
Rock climbing has got to be one of my favorite cross-training activities. It lengthens and strengthens muscles simultaneously. I feel great after a session on the rock. Gym climbing is great too, I recommend giving it a try, you might be surprised!

Re: Cross Training
Very cool. Oklahoma also has the ASA Softball Hall of Fame museum and complex. Check it out, the World Cup of Softball is there this week!

Re: Cross Training
I hit the gym and hop on the bikes and then lift weights. Other than that, I swim in our pool, just starting laps this week.

Re: Cross Training
I run, lift weights (aerobic circuit training with free weights), ride my bike, and swim. Oh, and good old fashioned yard work too.

Re: Cross Training
What is your primary form of exercise? I'm a runner and I supplement that with elliptical training on a regular basis and swimming when I get the rare opportunity. I also have a regular strength training routine of push-ups, pull-ups, and crunches to maintain muscle mass. Other activities such as biking, team sports (soccer, basketball, etc.), rock climbing, kayaking, etc. are also great. Find something that you enjoy and supports your main goal areas.

Re: Cross Training
I thought of this thread last night after carrying up way too many trips of both laundry and groceries up to my apartment on the third floor of our building. Doing laundry and buying groceries were both overdue. Almost to the point where, as I grabbed as many bags as possible for each trip up, I wondered if it could be considered a new form of cross-training. Either that or a new event for some kind of bizarre, urban strong man competition. Hehe. ;-)

Joking aside... Wilco, is getting a bike and flying around the OKC roads an option to break up your workouts?
