Re: Hello there B and B family...Newbie here.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and encouragement. To answer a few questions, I have two grandchildren; Talia and Rocky (yes, Rocky) by my oldest daughter, and my other daughter is expecting in December.
I'm actually a grits-loving South Carolinian who moved to UT about 12 years ago. I was in the Army for 6 years spending most of my time in Italy. Have made good and bad decisions throughout my life, but on the most important one, choosing my bride, I knocked a home run!
I picked out Saucony Trigon Guide as my training shoe. Seemed a little too stiff at first, but are now softening up nicely. My training elevation is about 5300-5400' on gentle up and down gradients. I also ride a bike to work every day and I think it helps strengthen me for the hills.
I chose the V of F Marathon as my first because it was the only one that was fairly close that coincided with the completion of HH's Novice program. I've heard that it's kind of tough for a 1st marathon. So I'm a little worried.
Anyway, thanks for letting me ride along!
