Re: Thu Jun 21 Boomer Runs
Nice hill work, Holly.
Congrats, Roy.

The Beers and I were probably sharing the same cooler, dryer air this morning. I loved it! It turned my planned easy run into an unplanned sproinky one. Not unlike WRFB, I realized how fast (for me) I was comfortably going and had fun cranking it up at the end with three sub-8 miles to finish.

Overall 10.1 miles @ 8:30 pace; 143 AHR, 75% HRR--which is good since this was my hilly route.

Great way to wrap up Spring. Have a good one.

Happy anniversary Roy, and belatedly to Holly and millbot.

Thanks also to all of you who posted on the Joe thread. I will get some data for you from Joe after Sunday, or perhaps he will post it himself, total mileage, number of pairs of shoes, etc.

Today is Riblet's b'day, and it's getaway day for me here in Phoenix. Running here was delightful, but I can't wait to get home. Spareribs

The gopher/rodent... Hee!

Sans, I can't shuffle in the twilight: too much June Madness going on down here... and I'm still just Not Quite Right. I'm meeting Coach and our victorious Half-Iron group at the track tonight. They'll be in recovery mode, and I'll be in "meh" mode, so I'm expecting a gentle session. Coach says she'll teach me how to tape the foot that's pronating terribly.

Congrats, Les Roys!

La T,

At the Inter Service Chess Championship in San Diego last week, I finished 7th out of 21 players.

I finished first in dog years. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for asking.

Oh, Pshaw! I combined mine. And yes, I really do that!

Congrats to Roy, and also to Riblet.

3 miles more or less for me this morning, in a minute less than Tuesday, and with less side stitch. Maybe, just maybe, I'm getting a handle on this!

On a more somber note, Sebastian ate several inches of new rag rug on Monday, and today he doesn't seem to feel too sproinky. So I guess I have to call the vet.

Edited to add: MustangSally, I love my espresso machine. I hung a sign over it that reads "Starbarbs"!

Re: Thu Jun 21 Boomer Runs
May the celebration of the summer solstice bring each one of us sproinky runs.

6 miles not so blissfully run this morning. I guess the bliss went rosecoloredglasess way today.

I did the unthinkable last night and ventured into the local swimming pool during their "adult" lap swim hours. Unlike my last week's swimming adventure at my friend's pool, this was the real test for my swimming ability, bigger pool, lots of adults and the test of enduring swimming for 30 minutes. The goal was to do 10 laps, but little did I know that 7 laps later I would be so dead tired that I had to call it quit. Econo sitah, I was thinking of you as I was agonizing just to finish each lap without having to take a break. My goal tonight will be to put my head under water at least every other lap. I so hate to put my head under water.

Great hill work Holly and I hope you find your sproinky back.
Breger, way to go with your 12 miler today.
Happy anniversary to Mr and Mrs Roy. Happy summer solstice everyone.
TetSuperJin, or Dark Horse, I am county on you guys to give me the history and background of the summer solstice celebration in the middle ages

Rosie, Mary, MustangSally ...

I must have a bad case of Summer Solstice Silliness and I'm happy to share it with you three. It's shameful, really, how juvenile I can be.

Roy, you ol' romantic you.
HB, Riblet!

Enjoy the Solstice running gift. Will run later.

I used to panic when my head immersed under water, Mari. It takes time to get comfortable with that. I used to practice without swimming, just putting my face in the water and blowing bubbles or floating in the water face down. If you don't already have one, get a good pair of goggles so you don't feel so blind in the water. Another thing that really helped me was a nose clip. I used to get water up my nostrils and start sputtering and choking, sending me in panic mode. Since I got the noseclip this problem was solved although I had to learn to breathe through my mouth only. It all takes time, but persevere, swimming is a great exercise to have in your tool box.

Sally my dear fren, I see you are hooked and there is no point suggesting to give the ol' EspressoMachine some tapertime. May I suggest some decaf beans instead? Or at least half'n'half regular/decaf. (((Jittery Sally)))

Ouch, tomw, dog walking can be dangerous bussiness...

Happy Annyversary to the Roys, that is neat about the cards. You guys must know each other well or something...

A rare sighting of Spareribs on the daily this morning... Happy birthday, Riblet!

It's raining buckets here again, so it's time to go out for a Summer Solstice Sloshabout. I think I'll wear my aquashoes...

Re: Thu Jun 21 Boomer Runs
Jura, the key to not needing the nose clip is to exhale through your nose when your face is in the water. Then when you roll to the side to breath in, you have no air to exhale, and all you need to do is just inhale.

Exhale in the water, inhale when out. This becomes normal/routine after a while.
