As many of you know, I was in Las Vegas last week for my son's Far West Regionals soccer tournament. They'd won the Alaska State Cup last August, and the grand prize was a chance to go melt in the desert in June 2007. They did pretty well, but didn't advance past the prelims. Oh well, it was a wonderful opportunity for them and everyone seemed to have a good time.
The non-soccer highlight for me was meeting Vista129 who was there for business and personal reasons. We e-mailed a bit before he left and I'd given him the schedule of games and directions to the fields. It was so cool to turn around early into the first game, and there he was!
I hope that turns out as my camera is not very good and I've never posted pictures before. (Using Hally's instructions off the Boomer Wiki to try it!)
I did most of my runs on a treadmill while there, to avoid the stifling heat. But did get out for a morning 5.2 miles by the soccer fields the second day, and an early morning run/walk down the Strip and back the day we left. Joey is a lot of fun, nice guy and we had such a good conversation I hardly noticed the time (and miles) going by. For my first Boomer meeting (outside of the local guy NB), it was a hugh success (at least I thought so... I think Joey would agree)!
