Thu July 5 Boomer Runs

Good morning, boomers!

It felt hot and sticky this morning, but the temp is only 66F now. What's that all about? Oh, the humidity is 100%. I guess that might have something to do with it.

3:50 came too early this morning, after our leisurely awakening yesterday. Sigh. At least the weekend is almost upon us.

Stats: 8.1 miles, 1:04, 7:55/mi.

Good runs, all.

Re: Thu July 5 Boomer Runs
......and a Happy Good Morning to YOU !

Having the Fourth of July in the middle of the week has allowed various strategies to be taken for taking time off work.
Some have taken last weekend and extended the time by taking Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off. Others have started with the Fourth and then added Thursday and Friday before including the upcoming weekend.
Various other combinations of one or two extra days off have been used. All I know is that this is one of the favorite vacation weeks of the summer and it is hard to find people at their work place. If I need to call someone at work, the odds are good that the day I call them it is going to be one of their vacation days.

The forecast today is for showers here in Central Virginia, which will be welcome. The temperatures are going to be in the mid 80's and humid. Hopefully our rain is going to break the humidity.

I am looking forward to following the thread today to hear how your run has gone and also to see what other antics are happening in the Boomer Coolrunning family.

Enjoy the day.

Re: Thu July 5 Boomer Runs
A recovery day for me. 5 miles at 9:49 min/mile pace.

It was "interesting" trying to grill out while massive thunderboomers and torrential rain surrounded us. It wasn't even raining when I started. Don't worry. My grill is under a very large overhang and well out of the weather. That didn't stop me from jumping a few times though.

Re: Thu July 5 Boomer Runs
The schedule called for 7 miles today, so I did 70 minutes on the elliptical. The leg still feels OK, so I may try to venture back outside tomorrow for at least part of the workout.

Yes, the rain last night was unfortunate, but we managed to eat our burgers and brats out on the patio between showers.

Good morning vista, berrrrrrrrger and beers

5K in 20' this morning

yes - vista, there are many ways of handling a mid-week 4th. I spent most of the week with bad beer, a lumpy bed and no internet - seulement pour ma belle-mère.

Happy (late) Birthday to yesterdays triplets

Ilene - thanks for posting the lovely photos of tomwhite, pickles and MAGGIE - well done!

Good Morning Boomers!

WRFB ? it felt that way here, too. 71 degrees, but it felt extremely warm and muggy to me.

Vista ? it doesn?t work that way for me. I?m only off on the 4th itself ? the rest of the week is a normal workweek.

8 recovery-paced miles, trying to work off some of the hugh ice cream sundae I ate last night.

Happy Thursday!

Morning Lou, thanks for starting.

5 very EZPZ recovery miles, 63F and 100% humidity at 7am. The light of day revealed what our fireworks display last night did to our cul-de-sac... I'll be handing a broom to the boys as soon as they wake up. Well, not the littlest boy. He gets to come home from the hospital today and doesn't have any responsibilities for awhile except eating and sleeping.

Good running, everyone.

morning boomers!

weather amazingly similar to Dave's. (& lou's & holly's) 44:33, 3.31 miles, ahr 150, ave. pace 13:28. + more walking than usual. not quite over this bug, so I was happy that even though this was a little hard for me this morning, I really wanted to keep going when it was time to stop.
up late & up early (4:00). I thought afterward that that is nothing for the beers.

happy to hear BBinAA is coming home today. pretty exciting.

glad pdr that your leg is still ok.

welcome back La T. bad beer??

eta smile for baby boy -)

belated wtg tramps on your 5 mile race!

Quit yer whining! 100% humidity and I loved it. (Ever since the management had a talk with me, I've turned over a new leaf.) 5.6 miles @ 9:02 pace.

C'mon rain. We desperately need it. Not a drop last night.

La T--"ma belle-mère"? Is that your mother-in-law or your horse?

Morning!

4 easy with Tory with a few deer and bunny striders thrown in. 38:27 (9:26 pace, AHR 149). Foot behaved today.

Then 1:00:00 pool with 41 min water running (AHR 130) and 650 yds swimming. Went without the pull bouy for last 350 yds. Need practice, would go really fast with lots of kicking to keep from sinking, get out of breath and gag. Then realized I barely need to kick and can just do it like I did with the pull bouy. Much better... ahhh... still learning.

Have great runs!

Re: Thu July 5 Boomer Runs
Just a workout day at the gym for me, but I did get an offer the other day that I'm going to have to refuse. I got word from the "Governor's Council on Physical Fitness" that my name was drawn in the lottery to be eligible to run 5 miles over the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day, ahead of the big crowd of walkers that is a Michigan state tradition (the only time that you can go by foot over the "Big Mac".

Now, running across one of the great bridges of the world would be a really cool thing to do, but unfortunately our family schedule has been unpredictable for months now and we've already had to cancel or change a lot of summer plans. So I guess I'm going to have to turn them down this time and just re-enter the lottery next year.

I hope everyone is enjoying the muggy weather and having good runs today!

Re: Thu July 5 Boomer Runs
Hello everyone! North of the border, Monday was a holiday. Tuesday was quiet because everyone was getting ready for the 4th of July holiday. Yesterday might as well have been a holiday given our phones and email were really quiet. Now that it's Thursday, probably too late to get too much going with the weekend just ahead. So I decided golf would be a good activity for today. I'll give some thought about tomorrow later today.

Ran an EZ 9.0 mi ...1:30:41 ...10:04 pace ...133 hr.

WRFB - you seem to be running really well! Good running everyone else too!

Re: Thu July 5 Boomer Runs
Rochrunner - that is too bad you can't run across the bridge! How do you enter the lottery? I think that would be such a fun thing to do - but I'd stay in the middle!

4 miles yesterd for the 4th and 5 miles today for the 5th of July. I could probably keep doing this until I get to the 11th or 12th of July - but then I'd have to give it up.

Have a great day. Hugs to little babyinAA!!
