The US did a great job against Brazil in the U-20 World Cup last night in Ottawa beating them 2-1. Very exciting. Freddy Adu is quite the athlete and soccer player. On to the round of 16 for the US. Canada needs to beat Congo on Sunday to have any chance of advancing.

We watched that game. It was greta and I am not an avid soccer fan.

tw...when does Little ''Boudica'' espect to arrive? Our first GS is due September 4th.

On to running.....I hope none today. It is going to be hot hot hot....ok, not Phoenix or Las Vgas hot but 98 is hot enough for me to not run.

Forgot to check the weather!
(choovie, I caught your insomnia and took Tylenol PM last night, missed the 0600 runners but made it out the door...)

11 miles of sweaty fun

Fortunately the 0600 runners ran a few more miles and we all met at the coffee shop after the running.

16 miles @ 9:01/mi

Good job, volunteer breger1 sir.
Nice long run, runwun! Outside?

I looked up the name "Boudica": a first-century queen who led the Britons against against Roman invaders. It means "victory".

Good luck, weekend racers. Think of Boudica!

Soccer? That's like hockey without the ice or sticks and with the big giant nets, right?

DW is worried about our garden. No rain here in ages and since we're on a shallow well, there's a limit to how much she can water. TB--rain dance, please.

runwun--awesome run.

Quite warm but humidity wasn't too bad...not 36% (Cheryl, was that a typo?) but not nearly as bad as it's supposed to get tomorrow.

16.7 miles @ 9:07 pace; 140 AHR, 73% HRR. I discovered we were out of bagels this morning so I improvised with half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before I left. No gels. Did okay, but I was droopy by the end.

Have a good weekend.

29% humidity? Okay now I'm really starting to get hot under the collar. (Oh wait. I already was).

11mi incl. 20x300m hills, 300m jog recovery; 4 sets of 5, planned to have 5 sec cutdown in each set. ran close to plan: 79.5, 74.7, 68.7, 63.2 averages, 1:37 rest. just 3 sec faster on the sprints than 3 weeks ago, but the recovery was 4 sec faster than last time.

secondary rainbows involve two internal reflections in a raindrop, and because the light path circuits the raindrop in the opposite direction from the primary rainbow, the colors appear reversed:

edited for breger: drippy 30% humidity here, yuck. could actually swallow during the warmup (not during the intervals though... )

WRFB... The Brits MUST be fond of the French. This year the Tour DeJuice started in UK today.

Hey, I get to post a decent run....
Tory and I ran 8 miles in 1:11:22 (8:55 pace) (AHR 162.. but felt lower) in 72F with 84% humidity (67F dewpoint)... pleny of stamina. It was sweaty though. I even cound wring alot of water out of my singlet afterwards! New stretches, wider shoes Asics 2120, Superfeet insoles and no foot complaints. But the big toe was sore while walking afterwards until I heated it up with a hair blower!

1 deer, 1 rabbit

Then 1:00:00 water runnning (AHR 147), nice steady effort. Felt alot better than running in the heat!

Have great runs!

Re: Sat July 7 Boomer Runs
No running today either - El Senor and I went for an early morning bike ride (very early since some rowdy neighbors had a loud party last night). 8 miles - 24' and 57% humidity.

Deb - saw the owner of the dog that chased me. He has a new dog - a very docile, 4 pound terrier - phew!

WRFB - oh the nutty French - ce n'est pas vraiment!

tomwhite - you are our secret weapon - who knew???

Peter sounds like a wonderful run and a salt water pool.

Breegs - always nice to volunteer - nicely done!

Hi mc! Hi Rose!

4.2 miles this morning and felt pretty good.
Mid 60's and I'm guessing about 50% relative humidity (because that's what it is now).

Re: Sat July 7 Boomer Runs
I'm in Delaware visiting Mom, drove a short ways over to the Greenbelt trail and had a fantastic 1 hour run on a nice mostly dirt trail where all I had to watch out for was horse droppings.

I will call it 4.8

After I took a short hike to a Geocache.

Enjoy the weekend all

10 easy miles before the day heated up.

I spent several hours sawing wood yesterday. The rented chainsaw wouldn't run, so I cut wood the old fashioned way. I was pleasantly surprised to find I'm not stiff today... we'll see if there is a delayed reaction tomorrow.
