Re: tuesday july 31 sunny boomer runs
Oh carp, tomwhite. Thinking of you and pickles.
I have a 1500m race on Friday, and I am getting so nervous about it. Last night I went to the running store and picked up my new Sekrit Weapon:

The lightest, sweetest, fastest shoes I've ever owned--they make my racing flats feel like lumberjack boots. Definitely not street-legal. Today I took them to the track for a test drive.

2.5 mi + 4x100m strides w/u
4x400m: 74, 73, 72, 68. Like walking on air.
3 mi c/d

The track was shimmering in the 90F heat.

{{{ SS's pankle }}}

It's a world of woe lately in Boomerland. Peace to all.

Re: tuesday july 31 sunny boomer runs
I went to the gym at lunch and got in 3.95 miles on the TM. Ramped up the speed for a nice lil kick at the end. Running fast always makes me think of Labaspeedster. 3.95 miles is sort of an odd mileage, but needed to do that to round out my monthly mileage to a nice whole number because that's how I am . Best part of the run was the company of John and hearing of his ultra and meet-up with fellow boomers. And then there was another runner, who also ran The Avenue, on the other TM next me. Life is good sandwiched in between two studly runners. oh, . . .sorry Lab . . .I didn't mean to bring up 'sandwich' . . .

congrats Holly on your sweeeeeet PR for the month!

I snuck out of the hospital to find my friend TomWhite

There are different types of leukemia ? some are less severe than others. Treatment ? as I believe you know ? has improved over the years.

Pickles will do her best with her diagnosis and I know that you are the best support that she could hope for. We read your support here on a daily basis.

I'm very sorry to hear about this, Tom.

Make sure of the diagnosis and proper staging...and then on to a Heme-Onc MD for extra advice. CLL is the most common type of adult 'leukemia' and is far less threatening than the acute leukemias.

Bad news is very difficult to handle. You will get through this-because you have to-and because you have each other.

If I ever wind up with a lifethreatening diagnosis, I will fight it with every ounce of my being. Life is too good and too precious not to fight for...

good luck, my fren, in your battle

Haven't been on the daily for a while, but just read this in work, ( on nights) and would like to say to Tom, you will both get through this and come out of it even stronger. My thoughts are with you both.

Re: tuesday july 31 sunny boomer runs
Yeah for our medical professionals jumping in here with the facts, thanks LaT and Dale!

Tammy, LOL at the sandwich.....oops so sorry Labwich

I too ran to make my mileage an even number. Half mile warmup before weight training 40 mins and Spin class 48 min.

Nice shoes Dave, hope you have the rest of the red outfit, you have to give HermosaBoy a run for the fashion money.

Tom and Pickles, thinking of you. It must be tough to get the news in separate cities.
Please keep us in the loop.
