I get it at Trader Joe's. I am sure Whole Foods has it too.(Whole Paycheck)

Barb, I'm in the middle of almost nowhere. Is there a brand name? We have some road runners (people who regularly return to their homes in DC) and they might be willing to pick some up in the big city if I can be very specific.

I am really craving bacon right now.

(tiptoeing into the Healthy Eating thread, looking wide-eyed)

66 hours past my last Diet Pepsi. The weekend is going to be hard. Counting hours really helps! Two other women in my office are quitting (one DP, one coffee). The dean might be next (DP).

Diet cola is not a "diet" drink. It makes you crave stuff to go with it...Big Sisters Econo #1 and #2 are both DP hounds like me and weigh 205 and 260 lbs, respectively.

(Looking around)

Hey, is Econo still here? Let's grab her and "encourage" some Kefir into her system. That'll get her on solid earthy ground.

That Euphie. I think she's on a perma-runner's high.

Hey,SS, check the member name. Any questions? I think it may be getting a little more intense, or maybe I'm just Perkyer.

Econo, good luck with the purge. Pomegranate or pomegranate/cherry juice is delicious splashed into some bubbly water. A little bit goes a long way. I prefer the water with small bubbles and sometimes add a twist of lime.

It's Wellshire. It isn't organic after all but it is raised without antibiotics and says All Natural.

Trader Joe's has their own brand as well. Not sure

The balance of the universe exists - I started drinking diet coke 75 hours ago. Never liked the stuff before, but I found myself going in for water and walking out with a frosty can of diet coke.

Gamed that will remain un-named removed!

Re: August Boomer Eating Healthy or Battle of the Bulge Challenge
La T! Don't! Don't start drinking diet colas! I have been trying to quit since 1996! It is a powerful addiction, environmentally offensive (all those cans & bottles), economically stupid ($2.50 or more per day), leaches calcium from your bones, yadda yadda -- don't go there, girl!

What is the daily set? What is Kefir? This Getting Healthy universe is very, very strange.

Thanks Econo - those are really fighting words. I wouldn't want to lose any calcium - I am already height challenged enough.

Phew - that was close

Edited to add - I will not give XXX to a numbers person and I strongly suggest you forget I ever mentioned it. In fact I will remove the name from my posts.

Re: August Boomer Eating Healthy or Battle of the Bulge Challenge
Hey egrd welcome!! I actually like Alvarado Street Bakeries Sprouted multigrain better then Ezekiel's 4-9. Have you looked in the frozen section of the local health food store? I get the Alvarado at the supermarket but the Ezekiel only frozen and the HFS.

Had a lovely omelet with gimmelean sausage style and feta cheese, a glass of soy milk and a slice of Alvarado toast after my run. Time to go lift some weights.

Euphie, nice week! Peeking in the 50+ (of which I am a member but no t much of a poster)

Re: August Boomer Eating Healthy or Battle of the Bulge Challenge
Barb, wish I had that for breakfast! Thanks for the nice words about the week, but don't forget I was complaining since Tuesday. I know I would never have pushed myself to that point. I've been Perkyfide. Right now I've got a plethora of perky posterior pain.

I don't know if SS is around to discuss Kefir. It's a "live and active" cultured milk product that's kind of like thinner yogurt. It has probiotics, so it'll keep your plumbin hummin and you'll live to be 105. I buy plain and strawberry flavored. The tofu hater in the house will now drink it blended together.

Since the spouse is somwhere in Sicily, I'm going to eat pasta today. Fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and pine nuts tossed with the pasta and olive oil. I might not be able to resist adding some anchovies to the mix.

Hope you all have very healthy weekends.

Re: August Boomer Eating Healthy or Battle of the Bulge Challenge
hi Lynne!

La TerrificT. back away from the diet coke. take a deep breath. knit. run. sing. ok now? teeth still intact? that was frightening.
um. thanks for the creative handle help... we might have to work on it just a little more. .

hi egret meijers even has ezekiel bread. (4:9). but you probably don't have a meijers. they keep it in the frozen food section next to amy's frozen stuff. what's in your shake? // It isn't? I eat salad over my keyboard & always drip lemon juice. also have lots of ezekiel bread in it. & blueberries sometimes. I am such a slob. (slight exaggeration. very slight)

hallybarb, I haven't made the dhal yet but it's on my list. the other bread...Alvarado.. is it entirely sprouted? (chia bread)

SS, not bad results? I guess that's not bad. soy makes you stoopid? that's my problem??? phew.
I go to a D.O. that I really like. each time she asks if I'm still eating tofu & says it's killing me. oh well.

euphie/deb, thanks for being the hyssop tea tester. dh doesn't like tofu either. our situation is a little weird.. we built another house, never quite moved there, & take care of both. it's sort of a long-term temporary situation. so he goes to the 'other' house & makes his own dinner. I can make/ eat whatever I want.

econo, before we have to encourage you. kefir's really yummy. also try peach. or raspberry.

Kefir does sound yummy -- I lurv yogurt!

OK, I need to lean on some buddies today. Powerful cravings for diet pepsi. Must keep busy. I'm off to brew some tea; that will help.

ETA: La T, I'm confused about your post about XXX numbers... Should I delete part of my post above?

Re: August Boomer Eating Healthy or Battle of the Bulge Challenge
Nice to have Econo and Egret join the table.

I've never had Kefir, to be honest. The first time I learned about it was here, from Flying Finn. I thought she might chime in. Thanks, Euphoric, for the explanation.

deebeegeebee, I have lots of excuses for the dum things I say and do. Tofu is just one of 'em.

I want to make Euphie's pasta. I love that combo. My roasted eggplant/veg lasagna on Friday turned out well. Thought Mr. S. was going to faint, that I actually made dinner. I added pine nuts to the recipe.

Econo, hang in there. I think warm drinks tend to satisfy a bit more, esp. if you're in a cool building. Maybe Egret's protein drink (if she'll share?)

Breakfast at 11:18? Gaad, I'm pokey. Better make it "blunch."
