PF Chang January 2007

It seems like I'm usually trying to throw myself into shape on short notice...so I'm trying to reverse that trend. I'm training now for next January. I've never heard of a buildup that long, but I have about 20 lbs to lose and would like to make a crack at a sub-4...on my way to faster perhaps. Had a couple of months of sporadic running due to a mega-blister obtained at my last marathon in late February. The blister is mostly better, nothing left but a sensitive spot on my heel. So in the past couple weeks I've started putting some mileage together again.

Anybody else out there have Phoenix in their sights?

I ran the full in 2006 while my daughter did the half. I think I will do the half in 2007 with her.

I ran the full this year, may do the half in January. DW wants to give the half a crack too.

I've already registered for AZ. Actually, one of my goals for 2007 is to run ALL the Rock N Roll events and get all those additional metals!

BTW: I ran the first one in 2004 and it was a good experience. Lots of activity along the course.

It was probably around 40 degrees at the sound of the gun and it probably got up to around 60-65 this year. It was great running weather.

I'm already registered for this one and looking forward to it - it will be my first marathon. We have a second home in Scottsdale (about 4 blocks from the 20-mile marker!) so it will be a convenient one for us, though I hope I don't hit the wall and decide to just run home!

No, it generally doesnt get windy here in the Phoenix area in January. Im not saying it cant happen but very rarely do we get cold windy days. Same goes for our dust storms. They primarily happen between June and August. Thats whay the RnR is scheduled when it is, mild weather for everybody to enjoy.

I think I'm planning on running this one -- it will be my second marathon (just ran Grandma's Marathon last weekend). I'll be shooting for a sub 3:40 for a BQ!
