Re: Country Music Marathon & Half M 4-28-06
The letter is basically a relaese of liability form that has your race corral and number on it.

envelope also included parking information, shuttle information (all of which is on the website). There is a pamphlet thing that is pretty much the same info as the website. In this pamphlet it says if you misplace your confirmation card (letter) you can print one out from the website beginning April 24.

Let's see, according to them, there are 1000 runners per corral. I am in corral 22. That means there are 22,000 people in front of me. <ale that 20,000 becasue I am in the 22nd corral and the first one is bound to have whatever elite runners are running it, even with Boston being two weeks before.

I guess it would make sense. Your race strategy would be differerent.

I am only runnning the half.

I personally would rather be in back of the faster half-marathoners than in front of them, but I'm sure they must have some reasoning behind this.

Re: Country Music Marathon & Half M 4-28-06
I got my confirmation this week also.

I put a finish time of 2:45 and got corral 25.

That is fine, I don't want to get run over!!

We are staying at the Renaissance so we can walk to the expo/concert and race... should be a blast!!

We are heading up to Ft. Campbell on Thurs. to look around bc we'll be moving up there in June and then drive down to the hotel on Friday..

Hey, we have reservations at the Renaissance also...but not sure we are keeping them. Daughter booked rooms at an airport hotel so we currently have two sets. We didn't communicate well on that.

It is a debate between cheap vs convenient.

We are flying in on Thursday night.

We decided to stick with the Renaiss. so we can walk to the race, the concert, the expo... parking will not be an issue, that was worth paying a little more...

And it has an indoor pool so the kiddos will have a place to wind down..

Re: Country Music Marathon & Half M 4-28-06
Still no confirmation letter yet here. I called elite racing to make sure, and they said that if for some reason you don't get one, they will have a blank one at the expo for you to fill out. And they confirmed that I'm in

Any natives know of a good place for dinner the night before? I'm hearing Maggiano's? How much does it cost (my parents will be there and they don't do expensive dinners, $30/person should be fine though)?

Re: Country Music Marathon & Half M 4-28-06
I would welcome any dinner recommendations also from the locals.

And I was wrong. Our other reservations are at the Sheraton, not the Renaisance. Still within walking distance form everything.

We plan on picking up the packets ASAP on Friday morning. We ran the R&R Phoenix and it was a zoo for pick ups..lines out the doors.

I would be willing to do this as well. Of course, having never been to Nashville, I think I'll defer to someone else for suggestions.

Re: Country Music Marathon & Half M 4-28-06
I would love to but have to pass this time. I will be there with family and 4 out of 5 of us are running.

You guys have a great time and wave to the slow, old, pastey looking woman at the back of the half marathon pack...right in front of the walkers.

Re: Country Music Marathon & Half M 4-28-06
Well,
I'll be running my first ever marathon this weekend.

As far as where to eat, I'm the man to tell you. I'm a valet at the Hilton Downtown, so I send people to eat for a living. You want to eat at 3rd and Commerce at a place called Demos' (pronounced Dee-muhs-is). Steakhouse and Spaghettihouse where the service is ridiculous, but the price is even more amazing. My girlfriend and I frequent it there, and it will cost us about $15 + tip. If you can't eat there, there's always the Old Spaghetti Factory, and if not there, Maggiano's will work, but it's a bit more expensive, and I don't hear that many good things about it...but it is .75 miles from my dorm room.

If anyone else needs some opinions, etc, talk to me. I'm stoked about this week, and maybe I can meet some of you runners.

Re: Country Music Marathon & Half M 4-28-06
And, I forgot to mention, if you want nice sit-down restaurants, we have plenty of those. Stockyard is a top steakhouse in America. Amazing service. There is also a Ruth's Chris. I work at the Palm Restaurant quite a bit (and will be there on Thursday evening working) in case anyone enjoys some Palm steaks.

The thing about Nashville is the fact that there are so many different places to eat that are basically just local to Nashville. Once again, tell me what type of restaurant/food you desire, and we probably have it and I'd love to point you to it.
