I wore a longjohn wetsuit, which certainly helped. Though, I do swim in the proper horizontal position without it. I attribute it more to the fact that I have pretty good upper body strength. Where my friend, who knows and taught me proper technique, would get tired over an hours worth of swimming I felt that I could swim 2+ and feel invigorated after. Our one, open water practice swim the week before was really confidence boosting aswell. I thought I could swim all day in the wetsuit.
