    I highly doubt you all will be able to even run 100 miles, never mind the western states 100. All the power to you, but from what I have heard about that race you will need to do a little more then training inorder to finish it

    I am just wondering how exactly would a person train for that event.  I mean it is 100 miles in the mountains in very hot conditions, i am not really sure if you can simulate those conditions, especially in little rhode island!

    lol you better get started!
    i cant do it, i have two other sports that im really serious about and that take up 5-10 hours a day, and in 13 years ill probably be in residency.

    i wanna be a sports med person/orthopedic surgeon which is great but it means ill be in school until im like 30.

    good luck on the marathon though, ill watch you guys on tv!

    The ultra alliance, nice! Well a pact to run the Western States by the time i am 39 years old huh! If i were and i might do the Western States it will be way before then! I am doing a 50 miler next year and hey never know mabey 100 in the next few years! Mabey ill see ya there thought in 13 years though!

    13 years you say? if my dad's plans work i'll be doing marathons in the next 5 years anyway, might as well keep on running  count me it! who knows, could be another one of those "character building" experiences  !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0!

    shouts to the doctor chick! me too, though not orthopedics, you should run anyway, i figure the training will keep me sane through med school, besides, after 100 mi the alliance may need some doctors

    I'll be in sports medicine too, and a cross-country skier, but what the hell if my knees don't give in between now and then I'm in. Besides I've already done a 24hr skiathon.... on a 4 person relay team of course. I'm not that wacked out YET!

    i have nothing but respect for the people who are going to run a 100 mile ultra marathon. good luck to you all, and happy training!(make sure u don't burn yourselves out or hurt yourselves by overtraining like someone i know..  )
