Re: the pact
I'm hoping on running a 24 hour race this coming year. wanna bust out
80 to 100 miles. I think the goal of this kind of ultra is just to stay on your feet as long as you can.
AND TO EAT AND DRINK A LOT WITHOUT PUKING!

Long live The Pact

Re: the pact
seeing the thread nearing the bottom of page 2, I decided it was time for another bump.

Every time I run I feel like I've done a backslide. Oy this is going to take a lot of effort to prepare.

If I happen to be in the states in 9 years I reckon I'd be up for it.

Re: the pact
On Sunday, clocked in under 2 hours for my second ever half marathon. 1:55...quite happy with that! 12 minutes faster than last year =)

I have to admit I hadn't actually done any real long running leading up to it- just solid and regular 7-10km runs.

Somehow, my 7km time came down to 34mins last week (this route includes a huge hill)- which kind of freaked me out, since only a week or so before I was doing 35 minutes. So something good has been achieved, somewhere, somehow!

But anyway, I guess I had confidence in my base capabilities to pull off the 1/2 decently and it was all good- though maybe I'm a little bit more sore now that I otherwise might have been! I'm also very hungry...=P

unenlightened, thanks for the comments...I guess I will have to look out for such imbalances...I try to get the whole body fairly strong via a range of activities but things like posture and running form I'm still quite the novice at.

Anyway people, will likely post here after the 90km syd-gong ride in november...keep it up!

Mike

Re: the pact
I have my yearly trail half marathon next Sunday. I'm a bit anxious about it since my training has been rather ecclectic. I'd love to do a sub 2:20 - the last 2 years my time was 2:21:??. It's a challenging but fun race. The course record is something like a 1:38 male/ 1:55 female to put it into perspective.

Re: the pact
The half marathon went well. I probably say this every year, but I've never found another race so brutal and enjoyable as this one. I finished in 2:21:19, beating an ultrarunning friend (it's a good feeling to beat her in a sprint finish, even if she was having an off day). I'll be happy when this semester is over so I once again can have my priorities where I like them. Anyway, that's all for now. Good luck everyone, and keep up with your training!

Re: the pact
Ugh, I don't think I've ever commented on this thread, running 535/km has never been too exciting for me. If anything this thread motivates me to want to run shorter races. I think I'm going to move down in distance and start racing the 800/1500 now.
