Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Christmas Week!

good morning all, posted to the last week HM thread. Well decided at 9:00 pm last night that I needed to run thus I got in a quick 5 miles at 9:13 pace. Good thing as wind gusts today to 35 mph and 14 degrees right now. Maybe x-train today at the gym.

mike: welcome and good luck on your 5 miler today.

laurel: way to get it going, you are definitely committed to your goals!!!!

joe: good win for the cowboys. let cara know which of the steve runners are best.

stan: that was an awesome post. what is your shoe brand of preference? Merry Christmas!

take care.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Christmas Week!

Joe/Cara, I think my favorite podcast is Steve's running of the most recent Boston Marathon (episode #93). I will see if I can attach the file below. Otherwise click 'Arcive' then scroll down to the episode you want to download, place the cursor on the file at the end of the article and right click then choose 'Save target as' this will download the file to your computer. I am not sure if you can save it directly to the MP3 player. The file size is 54 MB, that is 49 MB to large to attach.

Fdip93.mp3 --- is the file at the end of that particlular article.

Runjr- addiction 7, I have had foot problems in the past but, I have not had any since the shoe store recommended these.

Merry Christmas!

Stan

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Christmas Week!
Hi everyone - happy running!

Okay - it doesn't work if you click on the log-in to reply button in the first message of the thread. You have to go to the top of the page
to log-in first and then go to the thread and reply. At least that's what happened to me.

I just found the podrunner podcasts last week, so I'm just on my second week. On Friday I ran along the
railroad tracks while listening to this weeks cast (151 bpm) and I reallyliked it - I liked it better than last weeks. I signed up through itunes and they are downloaded automatically to my itunes. I'll have to go check out the offical website.

I have a couple of nike sports training audios for my ipod that I paid for anddownloaded through itunes - they work really good for running on the
treadmill. The one with Lance Armstrong is a killer.

I'll keep looking for more stuff to listen to while I run - it's nice to have new music to listen to.

I had an okay week this week. 21.62 miles with 2000 feet elevation gain. My longest run was today on one of the fire roads in the lower
elevations of the San Bernardino National Forest - 8.7 miles with 1200 feet gain. I should have picked a flat route for my first half-marathon
instead of one with 1300 feet gain - I wouldn't be so worried about the hills if I had. I could always switch to a different half marathon,
but I think I'll just settle for going really slow and doing the gain instead.

Beautiful running weather - 60's and sunny with a breeze today.

Kathy

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Christmas Week!

good evening all! It is amazing that it takes so many times to login. How is the login to this thread been for others? Well no run but did 30 minutes on the home stair stepper and will try to do another 30 with some weights. It is -3 out with the wind chill. the wind is gusting to almost 40 mph.

joe - thanks for the steve runner tips. well your Cowboys have home field throughout the playoffs.

stan: I forgot you gave me the tip on the Philly marathon Steve Runner podcast. Thanks, I think most of us are in the part of training where the music is getting old and we are looking for alternatives.

kathy - great run, where is the Hm you signed up for?

I am going to sign up for my HM over the holidays. This could be really cool if DD or DW decides to run, I'm hoping they want to.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Christmas Week!

Thanks for all the welcomes. Im a new runner. Just did my first 5k in November. Got a wild hair and decided to sign up for a half marathon with a co-worker in March.

My 5 miler training this morning run was my longest to date 5.3 miles to be exact. It was raining and about 45 this morning. Not many runners out. You'll look to be a very friendly and active group. Look forward to sharing.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Christmas Week!

I was able to download the podcasts using iTunes. I went to the iTunes store and searched for Phedippidations. You can choose to subscribe to the podcast or download individual podcasts. Hope this helps.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Christmas Week!

Im sure yall have discussed this before, but would like your ideas. What do you think of using run-walk method for 1/2 marathon. Im following Jeff Galloways training program which calls for using walking breaks. I was planning to do this but with my runs so far havent done it. My coworker doesnt believe in walking. So far it hasnt been an issue for me.

thanks,

Mike
