Awesome 7th Grader

There is a 7th grade kid around here running 17 flat 5Ks and even drops below 17 sometimes. It's unbelievable when you see this kid running, you'd never think he could keep the pace. When this kid gets to high school everyone's gonna know who he is.

Re: Awesome 7th Grader
Sounds amazing, but I'm too busy crying over the fact that the past two years a girl (12 the first year) beat me in an 8k. Grant after this season she can't beat me, but nonetheless, she's 13 and a girl. Enough said.

On the other hand, according to a friend this girl has been training since she was very young, and racing all the time (i.e. 3 times a week). Her parents are also apparently very hard on her with training. So, I guess it balances out.

those parents should have 872 krispy kreme donuts forced down their throats, followed by 2 cartons of milk each to wash them down, after which they should have to run 20x400 with a pack of rabid hyenas yapping at their heels the whole way and their daughter screaming at them with a megaphone. one penalty lap for every vomiting episode, and a voodoo priest on hand in the event that they drop dead.to resurrect them so they can finish the workout.

And afterward they can be glad that they didnt catch me in a bad mood.....

has any one else had the gratuitous dad behind the baby stroller thing (the one made for running) pass them.... talk about motivation to train a little harder.

There is a local kid, who is now a junior in HS that ran 17:15 as a 7th grader. He is a solid mid 16 type of guy now.

Fast times in Jr. HS don't garuntee anything other than fast times in Jr Hs

Re: Awesome 7th Grader
If we're talking amazing times for little kids, then Jacy Christiansen of Greenville, PA has to take the prize. This little girl is now 10, running 5K's in 18 and change. She ran a 24 minute 5K at the age of 4, and ran a 1:03 15K at 8.

The best we have locally in OK is a 6-year old female who can run a 25 minute 5K. She'll do very well next week at the AAU nationals in Ohio in the Bantam division (10-under), and will likely win a national championship sometime before she is 10.
