Racing flats/spikes

I read that a racing flat or spike will save you about 1 second per ounce per mile so say that your normal shoe weighs 12ounces and you buy a racing flat that weighs 6 it will save you 6 seconds a mile. Just wondering if yall think that is a good estimate well anyways figured i'd post sumthing becuase this forum is a little bit slow

Re: Racing flats/spikes
In my experience it is something like that but is really more like 15sec per mile. Then again, while being a good athlete (2:01.13 800m this year as a JR), I am not an elite athlete which any study (if any) was done on. Elites would have less of a difference in my opnion.

personally i dont think 1 ounce difference wil save you a full second. Maybe 4 ounces or up, but definetly not one. Where did u read that?
